CATHERINE'S POV

As soon as I saw him, I felt like my whole body was in a cloud and the fact that he stopped paying attention to Charlie was even more confusing. After a few seconds, I looked around and Charlie was gone, so Matthew offered his arm and we walked to Central Park. "I haven't seen you around." He said and I smiled as I put my hair behind my ear. "I'm an exchange soldier. Year off and all that." The look on his face was pure surprise, like he would not have expected that. "You're pretty cute." His words had this weird effect on me and before I could blush, I giggled. "Yeah, right." He stopped walking and made me stop. "You're beautiful and you know damn well that faeries can't lie." He explained and I stepped closer to him. "That's true, but you can twist the truth." I responded and he smirked. "Yeah, but why would I lie about how beautiful you are?" His question made me smile. "To get into my pants." I said with a flirty smile.

"You got me, but that's nothing to do with how beautiful you are." I laughed and we just kept walking. We were in the middle of Central Park, when he put his arm over my shoulders and whispered once again how beautiful I was. I stared at him and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." He grinned like a five-year-old and he kept telling me stories of his world. If any other male would have put their arms on me, I would have been uncomfortable, but Matt had this especial look on his eyes that made me feel safe. Then, I realized that it was a faerie thing, as Kieran also made me feel safe. It was such a funny feeling, but I felt good about it. We had a cup of coffee and talked for hours before I got a picture of Charlie and her dog. "Can we meet tomorrow?" He asked and for a moment, I stopped looking at the picture and looked at him. "If you really want to see me again, find out when we can meet again." After that, I kissed his cheek and walked to the institute.

Before entering, I called Charlie and she just walked out the portal and threw me a smile as we got into my room. "I felt such like a third wheel. Like, he didn't even give me a chance to talk to him." I giggled and she just looked at me with that face that wanted to know everything. "It felt weird." I explained. "Having a conversation with him without stuttering or looking at his eyes without breaking the contact are things that I never could do and then he just showed up and suddenly, I could talk to him and flirt back." I was really confused on that. "That happens when you're dating someone that's not your soulmate." Izzy explained from the door. "Oh." Charlie and I said as we processed that information. "That's why I know that Thor is not your soulmate." She added and Charlie looked down. "We actually, broke up a while ago." Izzy looked ashamed of not knowing that. "That explains a lot then." We just stayed in silence for a little bit.

As Magnus sat down Charlie sighed and told us the whole story about the break up and all the 'mistakes' she had done to let it go, avoiding the episode with Steve. So, when the questions were too directed at her actual relationship status, I blurted out that I had had a date with a Faerie. "They are so good in bed!" Izzy said and I giggled nervously. "I barely went on a date with him, let's not plan my wedding." I replied with a laugh. "Who is it?" Magnus questioned and I smile by remembering those beautiful green eyes. "Matthew." Immediately, Magnus smiled and it was like he was relieved. "He's great." I nodded and then the three of them started telling me how good Matthew was and I was happy to have hit the jackpot with Matt, even if we were nothing more than acquaintances. "He'll probably will come tomorrow." I added and they all stood up and started planning my outfits for the rest of the week.

Magnus ended up creating outfits for me with his magic, as Izzy and Charlie handed me their clothes. After a while, Magnus left and I turned to Charlie. She sighed and told me about his afternoon with Steve Rogers. Her eyes showed how embarrassed she was for the whole stuttering she had whenever she was around him.
