CATHERINE'S POV

Sebastian was a very open person with whoever had his trust, but with all this, we were finding things that we did not know and I was not sure if we truly wanted to know. "He got out to drink every Friday and he would stay out until the game was off." Charlie hummed and we looked for a bar that had games on Fridays and we got to one solid match. We hacked the system and looked at the surveillance cameras from around that time. We watched videos of a whole year before he had the final interview and we caught something. He was talking with someone and after fixing the image, we recognized that someone. It was Jonathan Morgenstern, which meant, Sebastian had been possessed when he decided to go to New York, that was why his answers were not confident. "Did he mention where he wanted to go before that?" Charlie asked Leon. "First, he truly wanted to go to Paris." He replied and Charlie showed a half smile.

"But then he changed his mind and wanted to go to Alicante." He added. "Why would he want to go back there?" Charlie asked as we all knew that Alicante was the place where you went to make a career within the Clave and Sebastian was more of a soldier than a boss. "A few months before his birthday, he told me about an investigation about some odd moves within the Clave." Leon added and just then, everything fell into pieces. "That's why they are onto you. They think he told you something." I told them and we all stayed silent. "But, when he contacted me, he never mentioned anything about Alicante. He had already decided for New York." Charlie explained. "We should go to bed." I nodded at Charlie's words and got ready for bed. Leon stayed as Charlie was too shaken up to be on her own. I could not stop thinking about it. If we could pinpoint what was wrong, we could have a case against the Clave and they would leave us alone.

We had to be smart enough, so they did not catch us, or we might end up just like Sebastian and I was not ready to die. Days went by and we celebrated Jace's twenty second birthday, so obviously we portaled to New York and partied like there was no tomorrow. By the time the party ended, we changed clothes and went to work. We had to supervise a few things and were ready to go home. Weeks went by and then, it was June already. As Charlie started packing her things, I did as well, but she asked me not to. I needed to take my time to actually leave this place that had taken me in for the last three years and was the closest thing I knew as a home and a family. As Charlie left, I took her advice and walked around the institute, trying to not feel guilty for leaving, even though I did not know why. "Stop thinking too much." Leon said when we bumped near the Greenhouse. "I just feel like something is going to happen and I'm just anxious." I added.

"Well, if that happens, you're going to be surrounded by people that are willing to get you out from whatever problem you throw at them, so relax." Leon was right, if something were to happen, New York institute will do whatever was in their hands to make it go away, so I should just do my part of the bargain. Charlotte left her home to fulfill our bond without breaking the rules, now it was my turn. "You're going to be fine, woman." I giggled and hugged him goodbye. Then, I walked to Evelyn's office and as soon as I closed the door, she looked up and smiled. "I know I'm not the figure you needed when you got here, but I'm proud of you and I'm so happy that you found a parabatai as strong as you." Her words gave me the sense of independence that I was lacking and I was relieved. Now, I was ready to go. I went to bed and I flew to New York. When I got to New York it was sunny and before greeting everyone, I walked out and enjoyed the sun for a little bit.

"Dude, you have a balcony in your room to enjoy the sun." Charlie said from behind me and hugged me. "I guess Jace would want you to stop by his office before we go to Stark's." I nodded and we walked in. "Wait. You haven't gotten home, yet?" My question brought a smile to her face. "I went out partying with Tony and crashed at my apartment." I giggled and walked to Jace's office.
