CATHERINE'S POV

Working for Tony was great because we could pitch ideas and help others to develop other inventions, we were making a name out there and slowly, we were coming into this mundane world. People was happy with the new weapons as they gave us the opportunity to save Downworlders and that was a plus for all of us. Charlie had fit perfectly on her way back to the institute and I was happy for that. We were a few days away from Christmas and Charlie had this 'feeling' that something was going to happen, we had texted everyone asking if they were okay and all the answers were positive. Except Tony. He had PSTD declared and Pepper did not know what to do. There were days that he could not sleep and if he fell asleep, he would have nightmares. The Chitauri had fucked his mind and now no one could help him except for himself. We tried to call him once a week to help him with his suits and stuff, but apparently being extremely protected was not enough.

So, when the explosion got to our radar, I felt Charlie freak out, but at the same time, she was fighting her emotions as she wanted to find Tony and Pepper alive. We had gotten to the bottom of the thing, but we still did not know where our friends were. Somehow, we managed to hack the system and got some information about Aldrich Killian and the girl who had taken Pepper. When Charlie realized that they had put the serum on Pepper, she was about to lose it. "If Killian hates Tony that much, why does he have him alive still?" I questioned as Charlie focused on the investigation. "Because you explode because of the serum." We both said as we got to the end of the road. That was the reason why they needed Tony alive, to fix the serum. Eventually, we hacked into JARVIS communication system and caught Tony's voice as he was talking to Rhodey. I sighed relaxed and we tried to help them as much as we could.

Those were the explosions, not terrorism like Killian had made the world believe. He had mapped out all the explosions and blame some actor for them. It was an enormous surprise when we found Pepper, but it hurt us to actually realize that he had experimented on her and she could explode any minute now. As much as Tony tried to kill Killian, he had experimented on himself too, so he was basically indestructible and when he pushed Pepper, I lost it. Tony tried to grab her, but he could not. So, I just jumped and grabbed her as Charlie covered us in a bubble so we would not be caught on fire. "Girls, what are you doing here?" She questioned as she tried to understand what was happening, we made a brief explanation of it and we kept on fighting. When it finally ended, Tony saw Pepper and he finally accepted that he was not very healthy. We went back home and tried to make this whole mess better.

Now, Tony had a reason to fix Killian's experiment. When he came up with the solution, he asked us to supervise the surgery as he was also undergoing surgery to take out the thing he had near his heart. Now, he could go and live his life without the Arc Reactor, without the suit, but he knew that he would always be Iron Man and we were happy for that. As he was now mansion-less, we portaled him to New York, where he would start seeing a specialist to deal with his condition. We returned to London's institute and tried our best to rest. We had missed Christmas, but we would not miss New Year's. January in London made Charlie recall the real reason she had come to this institute on her year off and with everything that happened we left it hanging. We had to find out why Sebastian had decided to go to New York. After doing all our work, Leon got to the room, feeling that we were up to something.

We explained briefly what was going on and he joined our mission, as Charlie, he wanted to know what had really happened. We secured the room and started reading the files we had acquired related to Sebastian. There were some inconsistencies on his actions and he hesitated a lot when he answered questions. "Do we know if he had a social mundane life?" Charlie asked and I nodded.
