CATHERINE'S POV

Sunday morning and we went to have breakfast and then we went out to walk around. The new Stark tower was almost done, but it looked really cool. After lunch, we prepared our week, leaving the next day off as it was America's Independence Day and Charlie had an invitation to Justin Hammer's day in the Hamptons. She was not very thrilled to go, but Tony and Pepper were also invited and we did not even know if they would show and Charlie just wanted to avoid things to go south. Finally, at night we went to our rooms and I fell asleep almost immediately. Fourth of July and although the Independence Day was a very mundane thing, the breakfast included a very patriot cupcake, very delicious, by the way. I did my workshop and I spend the whole morning training with them, there were some soldiers with potential, but there were others that were very difficult to watch.

Days wandered off quickly after that, we have come up with a name and logo of our new app. Another week went by and Charlie kept disappearing everyday and most nights. I tried to cover for her, but two weeks later and I was running out of excuses. I had woken up a few times throughout the night, which made me think that Charlie had nightmares, but it was not fear what I felt. It was something else, I could not quite pinpoint or explain it, so when the clock showed seven in the morning, I took a shower and went to her room. She was not there and when I was about to call her phone, she got out of the bathroom. "I'm here." She said and activated her endurance rune. "Being your parabatai means I can cover for you whenever you need to and I've done that this whole past year, but right now I need to know what am I covering." Charlie looked me dead in the eye, almost questioning if she needed to tell me.

"I'm kind of dating my mission." She blurted out and I had to sit down, because that meant that what I felt last night were not nightmares, it was pleasure. "Wait, what?" I asked instead, because I did not understand what she had just said. "I kinda needed to do something stupid so yeah." I stared at her and just put my hand over my head. "Was it necessary to do it so many times?" I told her, hoping she got the information. "The bond, makes me feel what you feel. Maybe not AS you do, but yeah." I explained when she was still confused. She blushed and hugged me. "I totally forgot about that! I'm really sorry!" Her words were true, but she also was curious on that. "As I said, it's not as strong. It was almost like the feeling I got when Kieran kissed me." She nodded and then I giggled. "I still can't believe you're hooking up with him. I mean, why?" She sighed and just sat next to me.

"He's not a bad guy, he's just confused and I think that if we get him something to forget about his broken ego, he will stop trying to harm Tony and Pepper." She was right, I had learned that mankind's ego was fragile and sometimes, ego was more important than everything else. "So, what is the strategy now? Besides the obvious." I rolled my eyes and she giggled. "I'm planning on taking our new app to him instead of Tony." That shut me up. That was the reason she wanted to create something completely different from Instagram. "Can we do that?" I questioned and Charlie shrugged. "I guess we'll see." That was all I needed to know. "But, seriously, four times?" I teased her and she bumped her shoulder with mine. "Not really my fault he is good at it!" We laughed and just talked about the whole Tony-Justin issue and their rivalry and she was right. He was not dangerous. But I also knew that Jace would not be too thrilled to hear about this.

It was not like she was embarrassed of him, but she was hurt over Thor as she was dealing with her feelings as she had just realized how much he meant for her. As expected, she had not talked about her feelings with anyone and I knew she would explode anytime soon. After lunch, she disappeared again and now I had thousands of excuses to cover for her.
