CATHERINE'S POV

After dinner that night, we all went to the after party in the same place where Charlie took me for my anatomy class and I was excited to go back there and when I saw Kieran, I ran to him. He chuckled and spun me around. "Hands off, pretty boy." Jace spoke and Kieran held me even closer. "I'm not doing anything she doesn't like and trust me; she likes it." His voice sounded even hotter than before and I melted. "Wanna dance?" He asked and I was just too absorbed into him and I just nodded. As we were dancing, he kissed me again and we just danced. After a while, Jace cut in and Kieran left, almost thanking me for Jace's reaction. "Are you aware that he's one of the most promiscuous seelies around?" His sentence made me smile. "I don't want to marry him." He did not know what to say after that. "He just gave me my first kiss and this was the second and final lesson. I'm okay with it." He smirked and just kept dancing with me.

By the end of the party, we returned to the institute and we went to sleep. By morning we had the Combat Workshop and Charlie was in charge of that. Jace signed off to fight and I started praying for him right away. Charlie had gotten way better these months and I already felt sorry for Jace. Charlie fought him and won about three rounds after Jace, then we taught some moves and after lunch time, we had other workshops around the institute. By night, we had some races and solving missions inside the building so when we got outside, we had already planned what to do. By the third day, all the eighteen-year-old people had to go to Evelyn's office and talk about their decision of their year off. As we were hosting the event, our institute would the last, meaning I was the last one to go and tell my decision. As I waited my turn, I watched every eighteen-year-old being nervous about it, like still indecisive and I was glad that I was not one of them.

After a while, I was the only one in the hall and that meant I was next. I sighed and when Evelyn opened the door and called my name, I walked in with a lot of confidence. "Miss Catherine Ashdown, this is your last meeting before telling the whole world about your choice." Evelyn said and I nodded. "Did you make your decision?" She asked again, I just nodded and sighed. "I'll be going to the New York institute." I said and she showed a little smile and scribbled down some words. "Any particular reason you want to go to New York?" Her question threw me off my game, I did not really know why I wanted to go there. "When are you planning on going there?" Evelyn asked once again and I answered still thinking on the reason. "In four weeks, the warlock in charge will portal me to said institute." She nodded, clearly content with my answers. "You need to fill these sheets and you will be ready to go." She said and I stood up. "Thank you."

It was then when she turned off the camera. "You found your parabatai, but you still don't realize it yet." She added and I turned around once again. "I did?" I was severely confused. "Charlotte is your parabatai, that's why she can calm you down. She avoided telling you so she wouldn't poison your decision. She was willing to sacrifice the bond over your happiness, so yes, Cath, you found your parabatai." After that my smile was stuck on my face. I had spent a whole year with my parabatai and I had not noticed and she knew. I was so happy that it was Charlie, though. She was perfect for me and I knew we would be a wonderful team and I could not wait for this new chapter to start. We still had a few days together before going to her home-institute and I was not that nervous anymore. I knew that Charlie and Jace would protect me. Life was good and I could not ask for more. Suddenly, my thoughts were clouded with one particular face. Loki's.

I closed my eyes and kept thinking on him. "Hello." He said and I greeted him. "Everything alright?" He questioned, as worry covered his handsome features. "Everything is great, the only thing missing is you." As I said that, he grinned. "I'll try to go soon. Right now, I'm a bit... busy." I nodded and after saying goodbye, I opened my eyes. Life was good.
