CATHERINE'S POV

Matt was so beautiful that I could get lost on his face for the longest time and I would still think it was not enough. "We've read lots of books in this cafe." He interrupted my train of thoughts and I sighed. "How long will you be here?" He questioned and I closed the book. "Indefinitely. I can live wherever I want and as for now, I'll live in the New York's institute." It seemed like my answer was exactly what he needed to hear. "Can we get back together?" He questioned as he held my hands between his. "A lot had happened in these months." I was speaking for myself, I had fun a few times with a warlock and I could not just hope for him to be okay with it. "Same for me." His reply made me smirk, then we slowly leant in and we kissed. It felt almost familiar, but this time was even better. It was almost like the missing part of me. "Let's try for a few weeks." I offered and he just kissed me again. "I had missed this." He whispered between the kisses.

After that, we got back to our books and just kept reading for a little bit more as his hand caressed mine, that mere touch ignited something in me. We left the place and walked around, enjoying these quiet moments. "When can I see you again?" I wondered out loud and he kissed me once again. "What's your schedule now?" I looked at my schedule and without the Stark part-time job, I had the upper-level training in the mornings and then we had surveillance on S.H.I.E.L.D every afternoon. "Nights off." I replied with a smile. "Then, I'm guessing you're spending any free minute with me." He said as he stole a kiss and I gladly kissed him back. "We'll see." I said as we kept kissing and kissing. "I really have to go back, but I'll text you in a little bit." I nodded as I was the one stealing kisses. I did not want him to go, but then again, we both had to go. When I was on my own, I suddenly remembered my parabatai.

It had been hours since I had left her with Steve and I felt terrible for even letting myself get lost in my bubble with Matt, but by just remembering his smile, everything vanished and I just focused on tracking my parabatai. It was then, when I realized she deactivated her tracking rune, this was bad. What had happened now? I texted her, called her, but nothing was working. I finally decided to keep walking around, in case she was somewhere nearby. I knew she would not be too far, so I looked for her on her usual spots, leaving her apartment for the end. I found her on my first try, on the tree she always climbed. "You okay, there?" My question made her smile and I just waited for her to get down. "I need to organize my apartment." She replied and I was lost. She had not touched a thing of her stuff since she got back. "What happened, Charlie?" She kept ignoring my questions and just walked to her apartment.

"Would you want me to ask Matt to help us?" She seemed so out of her mind, that I just followed her into her apartment. She walked around and started making notes on her cellphone and as I was about to sit on the floor, she took my hand and pulled me out. We ended up at some store with furniture. They would deliver all her things by tomorrow morning and she walked me out of there after paying. Our next stop, was another departmental store and she chose some paintings. "You realize that we can actually use magic, right?" I said and she just kept looking at the paintings. "I need to do it." She replied and I just kept being supportive. "We'll need help with the painting." I added when we finished in that store. "I need to do it." She repeated and I understood that she was still freaking out because of Steve. Maybe painting would solve the problem, so I let her do her thing. We took the paintings and the things to the car and then we moved to the next store.

She bought a bed; we try them on as Charlie was lost on her own thoughts. We moved to the next departmental store and she pushed me to the tableware aisle and bed clothes and curtains and all the things her new home could need. After that, we just got into the car. We got home immediately after that and she actually got ready to paint the walls.
