CATHERINE'S POV

The following day we did the same, jogging for three hours, combat training for two hours and after lunch, Charlotte had the diagnostic with the rest of the residents. I went to save her at six in the afternoon and after having our last meal, we were walking to our room when the demonic alert went off and every soldier that was off for the night, would be in the mission. Charlie and I went to the weaponry room and took our seraph blades, checked on our steles as Charlie took out her own special weapon directly brought from New York. "Here. This is yours." It was like a gun, but it was special for Downworlders. "Thanks." We walked back to the Control Room, where Evelyn was waiting the rest to give instructions. "Mr. Leon Verlac is in charge, so follow his instructions. Hope to see you all back safely." She nodded, giving us the signal to turn to Leon. "Let's go." He said as he walked to the door.

"Wait. You need to give us more than that to fulfill the mission." Charlie complained and Leon just ignored her and repeated his previous order. "He's gonna get us killed." She added as soldiers started getting out. I knew she was right, but Leon had more range than me, so I could not quite go against him. Charlie followed and soon enough we were in the place where the demon had been seen, but it was not anywhere near. "There's a mundane." Charlie announced as Leon kept ignoring her. She was fuming and as he was ignoring her, she just walked to the mundane. "Look at the marks." She said and I was surprised. It was like dog bites. "Now, look at his arms." There were scratches. "This, this was the killing stab." There was a big hole in his body, near the heart, which was gone. "So? What can you decipher with all this?" She questioned me as we saw Leon ran away from the group and some followed him.

"What is he doing?" She asked and Vallery, the girl in charge of the exchange soldiers appeared out of nowhere. "He went to kill the demon." Charlie face-palmed herself. "Okay. First lesson, identify the threat. Later, look for a way out. Finally, look for an attack that's accordingly to the kind you're fighting." She made it look so easy and it was just then, when we heard the noise. We looked over and saw Leon and the rest get themselves kicked. "Planning your attack, can avoid that." Her words had so much sense now. "Okay, game on. This kind of demon is known as Feldgeister as it's shaped like a few animals. So, our plan of attack is basically trying to immobilize it and sent it back to Edom. As we don't have time to actually send it back, we'll kill him using this." She showed us her seraph blades. "Okay, but have you seen the size of that thing? How we'll immobilize it?" Vallery questioned what I had in mind. "With this."

Charlotte showed us some little balls. "These are filled with adamas' dust, so we have little time to act." Vallery and I nodded and then, we were planning our attack. As Vallery went to tell the rest to back us up and block the demon's way, Charlie and I walked towards it. "Just like New York." She repeated to me. After explaining once again what we were doing, I stopped fearing my duty and did exactly what she wanted from me, even if Leon kept yelling at us to get away from the demon. That he had everything under control. "You should not disobey direct orders." He kept yelling, but it only took one look to my partner to know that this was the right thing to do. As we were in position, I looked for Charlie's eyes and we nodded to each other, before running straight to the demon. We jumped and threw the adamas' dust over it and when we landed back on the floor, we took our seraph blades and killed it, shutting everyone up in the process.

I felt completely happy with the result and that made Charlie smileproudly. The soldiers got closer and congratulated me, but dismissed Charlie'shelp. What was going on? She just took her seraph blade, cleaned it up and justwaited for them to finish. Just then, I saw Leon telling her that we were introuble. Charlie just ignored him and that seemed to be worse.
