CATHERINE'S POV

Eventually, the day ended and after dinner, Jace stood in the front and after glancing the whole dining room, he smiled and looked down. I caught Charlie smiling at that too and that made me smile too. I would have given my whole life to have a relationship like that with someone in my institute. Charlie and Jace were so close they looked more like a couple than as siblings and I seriously did not know why Clary did not put a stop, but I also knew that they just liked to play, nothing serious would happen between them. "It had been years since New York had hosted this meeting and I'm so happy that so many of you attended. We, as institute, are really thankful to have met you and we hope to see you in another time." Jace was not very good with words or feelings, he was more an action and impulsive guy, so he let Clary speak and give the final thank you to the rest of the team and to the attendees.

As the dinner had ended, we had the night off and as the Irish and Australian institute convinced a few other institutes to go out tonight, I decided to stay and enjoy the last moments with my new friend. Turned out, Charlie had planned something for me too and Clary, Jace, Alec, Magnus, Izzy, Charlotte and I ended up doing a small gathering in our room and just had a great night. We played, we shared experiences and I was lost on their missions. When they fell asleep, Charlie and I went up to the roof and looked at the stars. "Do you think there's life out there?" I questioned in a whisper. "You know Thor is from out there, right?" Her response made me realize that maybe Los Angeles' Institute could have something in their hands after all. "Why haven't you told them about that, then?" I questioned. Charlie sighed. "Thor is a very private person and they have like special rules for the kingdom, so I don't think they want humans around."

That was a really good excuse and I knew she was right because humans destroyed everything they find. "Eventually, they'll find out and I just hope Earth is ready whenever Asgard wants to be discovered." I laughed at that because if Thor and his people were intelligent, they would never be found by humans. When the sun set, I went to take a shower and got ready to have the last breakfast in New York. After that, I packed my things and by midday in New York, the goodbye started and I really did not want to leave. Jace hugged me and told me he wanted to see me soon. As I hugged Charlie, I felt this connection and there was something within me that started hurting when we got away. I imagined it would be a panic attack, so I just managed it to get over it and not embarrass me one last time in New York. Magnus portaled us back to London. I could not believe I was back to my normal, boring life.

I unpacked my things and found some books glamorized into Shadow Hunters' books. I sat on the floor and started reading. I was so into the mundane book that when I snapped out of it, it was time for dinner and I was late. I left the book in the shelf and walked to the dining room; Charlie had taught me that sometimes it was okay to bend the rules. I picked my plate and looked for an empty table, I started eating and I swear I missed my table-mates, their weird topics, their screams and noisy laughs. This was so silent. But then, someone took the seat in front of me. I was so used to sit on my own that when people started sitting around me, I was a bit uncomfortable with them as I did not know them enough and I totally thought they were planning a prank on me. Slowly, I felt comfortable enough to actually talk to them and share a nice meal. When the clock showed it was ten, everyone stood up and went to their rooms. I hated to have a curfew.

Instead of going to sleep, I went to the Greenhouse. It was not as awesome as New York's, but I could use it either way. Plants and flowers showed a special glow whenever I was around and I had always loved that. It was like a way to communicate with them and I always imagine it was my parents, trying to be there for me.
