CATHERINE'S POV

As soon as I ended my little investigation, I walked to the director's office and once again, it was like she was waiting for me. "Miss Ashdown, any problem?" She questioned before I could even knock on her door. "Yeah, I want to formally present a complaint." I said as I activated my bravery rune. She looked at me as I had caught her attention, so I kept talking. "Charlotte's schedule is completely full and I compared it to the other soldiers and it's just not fair." She stood up to some cabinet and took Charlie's files. She checked the schedule and gasped when she realized that I was right. "Mr. Verlac made hers, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. Tell her than she's free after her tech class and she will only be called for missions." I nodded and left the room after thanking her. I looked at the time and went to save Charlie and have dinner before taking her out of the institute.

I looked at her getting ready and I praised the easiness she had with makeup. I had just tried eyeliner once at fifteen and that had been the worse ten seconds of my life as the thing got on my eyes and I freaked out by seeing the demon eyes. My fine motor skill was not meant to draw straight lines, especially over my eyes, so I never tried again. In a blink, she was ready and she looked really good. It was then, that she asked if I wanted some makeup on me. I did want it, but I did not want to bother her. Turned out she was more than happy to do my makeup. Once we both were ready, we snapped a few pictures and sent them to Izzy and finally at ten, we portaled to our main attraction of tonight. As we were in line to get on the London Eye, she told me more things about her. Like Jace had took her in for real when her parents followed Valentine for a second time and they died when she was fifteen.

Since then, they were inseparable and he tended to be overprotective, but at the same time, he pushed her further to get better, even better than himself and that spoke highly of him. "What about more relatives?" I questioned and Charlie looked at the sky. "Apparently, there's no one else. And with Jace and the Lightwoods, I don't need more." She seemed happy about that, but I caught something else, but I did not want to pressure her to tell me. Finally, it was our turn and we stepped into the capsule and waited for it to start. She was marveled by the London Eye and so was I. I could not tell her it was my first time out, so I just managed to hide my own amusement. "So, it's your first time here too." She added after a while, when we were on the top of the London Eye. "Too obvious?" I asked scrunching my nose and she just giggled. "No! It's just you've been with your mouth open the whole ride." I cackled and hid my face with my hands.

"There's something about you, Cath. I don't know what is, but there this thing that makes me trust you." The feeling was mutual and yet, I did not say it, because I knew she knew. "So, what's your story?" She questioned when we got off it. I did not know the reason why that made me realize it might be a tricky thing as not even I knew what I could say that I actually knew. "I don't have any memory before arriving to the institute. For what they told me, I was kidnapped when I was a baby and I lived as a mundane until I had an accident at fourteen and I lost my memory. So, since then, I've been too afraid to go out. In fact, a week ago, I got out for the first time and it was awesome." She smiled proudly to that and I felt good for that. After that, we activated our invisibility rune and climbed the Big Ben. The feeling of freedom was out of this world. When we jumped down, we just walked around town, enjoying the night.

"We better eat something before returning to the institute, otherwise, they'll know." She added and I nodded. We found the food truck and enjoyed a really nice meal and then we returned to the institute. We had training in the morning and I needed to start from the very beginning of everything.
