CHARLOTTE'S POV

As soon as I had gotten out of the portal, I knew this was not right. The Clave did not use Idris anymore. Not since the whole protests and still Lady Clave handed me to some dudes that did not look very trust-worthy. It was dark and I knew we were not inside the Clave's building. As much as I asked where we were, they just groaned and ignored me. I tried to communicate with any of my friends. I tried to use my parabatai rune, but as hard as I tried, the guys just burned me, so after a while, I stopped trying. After a while, I fought them and ran like I never before. I was scared and as I looked back, my foot tangled with a tree and when I stood up, the guys had trapped me again and hit my head, so I was out. After a while, Lady Clave put another form of the blocking rune on me and one of her puppets hit me, once, two, three times and I just dunked every one of those. It was then, when she shot me and I just passed out. Again.

When I woke up, I felt bad. I threw up and felt my body heavy. I could move, but my body did not react to my commands, then I realized it was because I was strapped to something and they were sat on me. Lady Clave was trying to take some samples of my blood, but as they had hurt me so bad, she could not get any good drop. When I woke up once again, they were taking me to court. As soon as Jia saw me, she was confused as to why I was there and mainly why I was like that. Lady Clave turned in her documents and Jia nodded. "Where's her defense?" Her question was directed to everyone, but she looked at me. Lady Clave smiled. "They are not coming." As those words came out of her mouth, I knew she had not made the notification, meaning this was an extraordinary trial. I sat still and just stayed there, listening to all my crimes. Jia was confused as Lady Clave kept feeding her lies. I could not even breathe, so defending myself was out of the question.

When they called me up, I limped my way there and sat there. I could not believe that humans had to endure this much pain. The wound hurt and I was still losing blood for the shot she had put in me. I felt dizzy and I could taste blood in my mouth. Lady Clave asked questions and I could not answer and I would not answer either. She went on the same for half an hour before she lost it. "Were you involved in the New York attack?" I stared at her but did not answer. Jia stood up and activated the truth rune, but as my runes were deactivated, it did not work. "She used a blocking rune on me." I talked to her mind and Jia slammed her hands on her desk. "How did you get all those wounds?" Jia asked and Lady Clave answered before me. "I found her like that." Her words hurt me even more and then Jia stood up again. "Take her out." She commanded some guard and he gently took me on his arms and walked me out. He sat me down and I closed my eyes.

Later, Jia got in and took my upper clothes off and saw the wound. "This didn't happen two days ago." She said and I did not say anything. She tried to unblock my runes again, but she could not. She was confused and suddenly I just was too numbed to be there. Jia wrote some words in a folder and sighed. We got out of the room and it was time for Jia to tell the result of the trial. I was nervous and I just hoped for the best, praying that my friends got here soon. "Miss Verlac is found guilty on treason." I wanted to cry. "She will be deruned in a ceremony tomorrow morning." After that, the same soldier took me back to my cell. I slept and when I woke up, I was even more tired and I was being taken back to court. Jia started and I just wanted this to be over. I could not keep doing this. Lady Clave put the stele on me and that mere touch burned my whole body. I put my hands on the nearest desk and held myself still as I waited for this whole thing to be over.

It was then, when a portal opened and Magnus, Alec, Jace and Cath walked in. I started crying, without seeing who else had come for me. All I felt was Jace's tears on me as he apologized for not coming before. "You're here now." I whispered and I let myself go. I was too tired to be awake, or standing or alive. "Just kill me already." I whispered to Jace. "It's okay. I love you." I ended.
