CHARLOTTE'S POV

After spending all day in New York trying to figure out what to do, we finally decided to go back home. We did the same as every other day when we snuck out and then we walked around making faces of have been working all day in the library. We went to have diner and found Leon mad at us, but we really did not know for what. Catherine went to the night surveillance shift, so I stayed a bit more talking with the other exchange residents and how excited they were to go back home. I smiled at that, because I was excited to go home too, but at the same time, I wanted to stay. London gave me freedom and a Jace-free environment. I love my brother, but he got intense sometimes and that made me uncomfortable. His over protection was out of his hands and by now I had learned how to manage it, but I did not want to. I wanted to be me, without having to be looking over my shoulder if he was judging me.

By the end of diner, Leon walked me to my room and when I opened the door, he pushed me inside. "What the hell, dude?" I complained and he seemed to understand what had done. "Sorry about that, I'm just angry right now." I frowned because I could feel that, but I did not know the reason of it. "I spend my whole free day erasing your faces from Instagram." Fuck, we had forgotten about face recognition. "Okay, but why did you do that?" He sighed and just looked around. "There's something weird happening and I don't know why, but I'm guessing you have a lot to do with that." He talked. "Someone's coming. I don't recognize those steps." I said to his mind and he did the first thing that crossed his mind. Push me to the wall and pretend like we were kissing, just in time when the door was opened. "Oh. That explains things." The lady from the Clave said as Leon stepped away from me. "I'm sorry, but you seriously can't just burst into my room like that."

I tried to act as annoyed as I could, trying to not show how confused I was. "I can do whatever I want, that's why I'm from the Clave." As soon as those words came out of her mouth, I knew she was not from the Clave and I was about to retaliate her words, when Evelyn appeared. She saw the door open and assessed the situation. "May I come in?" She asked and I nodded. By then I felt really bad, it was like since this woman appeared my scar made me reminisce the danger. "What seems to be the problem here?" Evelyn asked as Leon held my hand and tried to calm me down. "For starters, this lady keeps barging into my room." I said as I tried to act cool, but Leon's hands were making me anxious, it was like a deep part of me was afraid and the other just wanted to keep the game, but I did not want to involve him. "The fact that she's from the Clave doesn't give her the right to barge in our rooms. We were kinda busy here."

I explained as Evelyn raised her eyebrow. "I see." She turned to the lady from the Clave. "It seems to me that you're very preoccupied for this exchange student in particular, so may I ask why?" Evelyn was a very intelligent woman and I rooted that specific trait of her. "She has a very erratically behavior, which had caught the Clave's attention." Her response confirmed that they were onto me. "Tell me more." Evelyn asked and the woman did not know what to say. "She has a very unlike relationship with mundanes." She was trying again, but once again, Evelyn came to my rescue. "Well, she's the person in charge of mundanes relationships, so it is kind of obvious she has to be in constant touch with them. Now, I'm asking you nicely to leave my institute and if I know that you keep bothering Miss Verlac, I will file a complaint. Act like an adult, she's a teenager." Those last words made the woman burn and she left the room quickly.

"I don't know what's going on, I just hope you're not doing something illegal." I shook my head, because for once, I had not done anything. She nodded once and left us there. I did not know what to do right then. Was the Clave really behind all this? Tonight, I had been lucky, but I did not know if that would last. I was just so confused. What the hell had just happened?
