CATHERINE'S POV

The day of the launch arrived and just our luck, a demon was crawling around, so the only ones that were cleared to go were Charlie and I, which gave us a bit more time on our lie. As it was an official night out and our pictures would probably end online, we had to dress for the occasion. It was not a big of a deal, but we could not just go with sneakers. Justin had gone overboard with this thing, almost copying what Tony had done with Instagram, the advertisement this new app had reached was out of this world and we were thankful for that. As Justin was the 'owner' of the app, he had opened the red carpet and we arrived in the middle of the whole thing. Charlie and I posed together and we just had fun there, some people recognized us from the last launch, so they asked about more apps coming and work-related things. We just talked about the app and moved on. As cameras' flashes could mess our glamour, we had to cover our runes like a mundane. Makeup.

By the time we were in, Justin was so happy that he kissed Charlie about a hundred times in front of the cameras as she just laughed at his reaction. We were talking and just having fun when I saw Tony. "Fuck." I whispered to Charlie's mind and she followed my stare. "Fuckity fuck." She replied on my mind and we tried to act normal, but we knew that shit was about to hit the fan. We knew that Tony was mature enough to avoid any confrontation with Justin with all the media there, so we just tried to do our thing. It was midnight when we pressed the button that made the app available. We had fixed the few issues we had with Instagram for the quantity of people that downloaded it, so we did not have any issue with Snapchat. I saw Tony looking straight at us, so to avoid the confrontation, I walked to him as I activated my bravery rune. "Hey." I greeted with a smile. "You changed me." He said and I did not know how to explain the whole thing.

"Tony, please, let us explain. Tomorrow, in your new tower." My offer seemed to make him understand that there was something hidden. "I actually can't tomorrow. I'll text either of you when I can." I nodded and just sighed. "There's a really good explanation." I whispered to his brain and he opened his eyes. "Wow." And he turned around, just to find a full kiss between Charlie and Justin. He was so into them and then he looked at me, then back at them and after that he walked away. I did not have an explanation for that one. The launch ended after a few drinks and some dancing. We had a very good night and when we returned to the institute, Tony's car was there. "We're so fucked." Charlie added when she recognized the car and I just wanted to disappear. "Ready, parabatai?" She looked at me after my words and she just hugged me. "Best sidekick ever!" And we walked in.

We were goofing around as we walked in and all the laughs were cut short when someone cleared his throat. "Girls, you're both needed in the Director's office." We sighed and activated all the runes that we could have activated and got into the office. "Miss Verlac and Miss Ashdown, please take a seat." We both looked at each other and held hands as we sat down next to Tony. "So, I'm just finding out that we did not go to Mister Stark for our new app." Jace started as he supported his back on the office chair. Charlotte nodded and Tony gasped as she was taking the blame. "It's was the both of us." I spoke and Jace just nodded, not really understanding what this was about. "Mister Stark, I know it's late, that's why I'll send the girls to explain this situation as soon as you can, but I'm terribly sorry for this misunderstanding. As for now, we all need to go and rest. I'll talk with Miss Verlac tomorrow." Oh, fuck. He did not believe me.

As he said that, Tony and I stood up, Jace was warm and funny, but when he was mad, you better run. And this was one of those times as Jace was not the type of person that apologized and especially not to mundanes. Charlie stood her ground and I was scared of their relationship breaking. All I could think was that this was her second strike since she returned. Jace would blame me.
