CATHERINE'S POV

The feelings Charlie transmitted whenever she was near Steve were out of this world, but I still did not know if she was acting like that for Steve or she was fangirling over Captain America, either way, I was entertained by them. "What are we watching?" She asked as she tried to think in another thing. "Home Alone?" I questioned not very sure of my choice. "Perfect." She answered and sat on the couch for one. "What happened?" I asked directly to her mind and she just rolled her eyes. "This is the Justin situation all over again, I won't make a poor decision again." She replied to my mind again and I just sighed. Jace had fucked up, again. Steve brought some chips and a few cold beers and I pressed play. Steve really enjoyed the movie and laughed a lot. More than once, I caught Charlie lost on him and then she just got mad at herself. When both movies ended, Charlie jumped to go to the kitchen to check on the food.

"So, how's life these days?" I questioned and he just sighed. "A bit lonely. If I had this thing earlier, I probably would have been more entertained." He showed me my old phone and I giggled at that. "Did she explain how to use it?" Steve made a face as he looked down. What had happened there? So, I told him all the things he needed to know, including the fact that whenever S.H.I.E.L.D. came to see him, he had to turn it off, otherwise they would snatch it from him and we would lose him again. It was eight in the afternoon, when we all changed clothes and had dinner. I had brought ugly Christmas sweaters and snapped a few pictures after dinner. It was colder so, Steve put some more logs on the chimney and after a while, we got out to skate a bit and throw snow balls at each other. By midnight, I took our things and Charlie did the same. Steve's face went from happiness to sadness. "You should stay." I said to Charlie, she looked at me.

"I'm going back to cover for you." Charlie nodded and I hugged Steve quickly before going away. I walked and opened a portal on my own as Charlie had insisted that I should learn, so I did. I went straight to my bed and smiled at our day. I just hoped the world did not find Steve; he was not ready to deal with the world just yet. I went out and tried my best to cover our day and went to the training room, where surprisingly, I found a fair amount of people training, included the ones that were not paying attention in the previous workshops. I smiled at that and decided to train with them. By six in the morning, I felt some butterflies on my stomach and I smiled at myself. She was not having sex, but she was probably kissing him, which was good. He had been out of the world for seventy years. I went to bed and rested for a little bit. As it was Christmas Eve, we would have shifts to enjoy our dinner.

Charlie and I were in the afternoon surveillance shift, so I texted her to come home and she just said that she would meet me in Times Square at two, which gave me about two hours to come up with a lie to cover for her. As ever, I had to complete some paperwork and fill some other details in Jace's office, but no one asked for Charlie, thankfully. At two I was in the place and she got there with a smile. "How was your night?" She covered her face and giggled. "It was a PG experiment he came up with." She explained and I laughed at her. "He said he needed practice and you know I love to help." I chuckled at her and just rolled my eyes. Suddenly, Jace put his arms over our shoulders. "By the Angel!" We said at the same time and he just giggled. "You're an ass." Charlie said and walked away. "I'm not saying it, but what she said." He laughed and followed us for the rest of the afternoon. It was like he had a sensor whenever we were doing things behind his back.

"C'mon, it's not that big of a deal, baby girl." Jace told Charlie, knowing that said nickname melted her like butter. "I kinda hate you." She replied as she let him bring her to his arms. "I love you too." He replied and I smiled at that. They were adorable and after almost six months, I had learnt to understand their weird relationship.
