CATHERINE'S POV

Jace was loaded with things on his desk, but when he saw me, he left everything behind and went to hug me. "Did you just get here?" I nodded and hugged him back and then we sat. "Charlie told me you wanted to see me before work." Jace chuckled and nodded, he was really happy. "You're going to be promoted to Training Master of the institute, which means, you'll be training soldiers to step up their fighting." I was so happy that I almost went through his desk to hug him. "Wow. If I'd known you'd give one of those hugs, I'd have named you master a WHILE ago." I started kissing his cheek when Charlie got in. "Can I act mad and play Jace?" She spoke to my mind and I decided to follow her plan. "Bitch, get off my man." Her words made Jace jump away from me. "As far as I'm concerned, he's Clary's man." I replied, already panicking. "We all know he's mine, so stop touching him." Charlie was laughing on her mind.

"Or what?" I challenged her and Jace got closer to Charlie to calm her down. "Baby girl, stop your jealousy. It's uncomfortable." He whispered and Charlie looked at him straight to his eyes. "Then stop cheating on me." Jace was taken aback and held her face. "I'm not a cheater." His hands were on her face and both of us knew he had not caught our game. "Ready to go?" I asked as I took Charlie on our way out. "Goodbye, cheater." Charlie waved and Jace just rolled his eyes. "Love you both either way." He shouted back and we giggled on our way out. "Tony wants to meet us first." I nodded and we walked to the new Stark Tower. Tony had made us partners of his company, but he still wanted us to keep promoting his company through our social media on daily basis. After the chaos over the Chitauri, his name had gone straight through the drain and he wanted to get it back up and he knew we were a safe bet for that.

After that meeting, we took a short stroll through Central Park and then I saw him, but I was not fast enough to take Charlie out of there before Steve saw us. Although, I said that I would leave, I felt how nervous Charlie was and even though I knew about Steve's feelings, he could be a lot to handle right now. Charlie liked Steve; I was sure of it. I could see it in the way she looked at him, but she was just too damn proud to let him off the hook. Steve was too smitten with Charlie and even he was impressed with that. He had born once again when they took him out of the ice and all he knew was gone, but he knew what love was and frankly, he was giving Charlie exactly that, even if both of them refused to admit it. We had been dealing with the New York's attack and the Clave's trial consequences for a while now. By just remembering how hurt we all had gotten, my whole body ached. I was so caught up on them, that I did not watch my steps and bumped into someone.

I apologized immediately and it was a huge surprise to find a familiar face. "Cath?" He seemed surprised to see me there and I jumped to his arms. "Matt!" He smiled and hugged me back. "When did you get back?" He questioned with a bright smile. "I just got back today and got out with Charlie." He looked happier and I felt jealous of that. "Where's she?" I looked around as I had already forgotten about her. "She had an issue with Steve. You know how they are." Matt smiled and I mirrored it. "So, I guess she wouldn't mind if I steal you for a bit, would she?" I shook my head and hooked my arm with his. We walked arm in arm for a while and we stopped at some café. The same we used to visit when we were dating. The waiter recognized us and prepared our order without even asking what we wanted. It was almost as when we were together and I missed that, but I also knew that we were over the moment I left to London and I did not know if we could have that again.

"What's on your mind, pretty girl?" His question brought me back and I sipped on my tea. "I was thinking on the last time we were here." I blurted out without hesitation and he smirked at that, he knew that I was still shy around him and he secretly loved it. "And a part of me was missing this. You. Me. Us."
