CATHERINE'S POV

I stayed wandering around the institute for a bit before getting into my night shift, thankful for them to be busy enough to not look my way as I had just come out to cover for Charlotte and Thor. They needed some time off and just be together. Charlie needed someone from her old life to be there for her and as I could not call Jace, Thor was the best next option. In the short period of time that I have known Charlotte, Thor had been into our conversations and he was making her happy, even if they were not constantly together. After a little bit, I went to my shift in the surveillance room and spent a few hours there, just to keep my mind at bay of all the things that had happened in these few weeks and mostly what had happened to Charlie. I was not sure I wanted to be part of this institute not when I realized that not all the institutes were like this, but then again, it was not the whole institute was like that.

As I kept an eye in the screens, I took Charlie's old phone and look for the institutes that were to open their doors to receive exchange soldiers. Berlin, Rome, Paris, Brasilia, Sydney, New York were a few, but I just wanted New York, so I started reading what would I need to get there. There was a minimum mission requirement, a recommendation letter and a video where I explained why I could be a nice asset to the institute. I closed my eyes and calmed down, but I knew that I would have a really hard time with that video. After that, I went back to surveillance and cold cases. After a few hours following leads, I took a recess and went to the Greenhouse. I spent almost an hour there and then I went back to my station. When the lighting came back, I knew for sure that Thor was gone. I looked at my clock and my shift had ended a while ago, so I went to my room. As soon as I opened the door, I saw Charlie limping-running to the bathroom.

"You okay?" I questioned as I walked behind her. "Yeah, I'm just a bit tired. Let me take a shower and then I'm all yours." I looked at her and shook my head. "No. You're not training today either, so put your ass back on the bed." Charlie groaned, but did not go back to bed. Stubborn girl. "And we can't go out again as Evelyn is suspicious over the portals that had been opened." That made her understand that we were stuck in the institute and she was stuck in bed for a little bit longer. "The wound looks way better, though." She showed me her wound. "I'm sure Thor made it disappear." I blurted out and she just tackled me to the floor. "Thank you for that, by the way." I hugged her back and we just stayed like that for a little bit more. "I needed that." She added a while later and I just nodded, afraid of my response. English people were not very affectionate, but somehow, she was knocking some walls around. "So, Thor." I said to change the subject.

Charlie just giggled and told me about her late date with Thor. As she was out of training for the rest of the week, she convinced me to watch a few mundane movies. I have lived as a mundane up until fourteen years old, not that I remember any of that either way and then I was erased a lot for me to actually do this with her.

Spending more time with Charlie was always a good thing, because she had these awesome ideas and made me keep up with her. This could open new paths for everyone and it felt very mundane thing to do. Like when people applied for college and that made me feel really accomplished, even if it was not a very mundane feeling.
