CHARLOTTE'S POV

The days went by and my birthday arrived. I was nineteen. I have lived eight months away from home. I was in a relationship-sort-of-thing with an amazing guy and I have wonderful friends. Above everything that had happened in these last months, I was happy and I longed to go back home. There was only one thing that I would miss whenever I was back home. Catherine. I would ask her to be my parabatai if I could, but there were some rules related to that. The parabatai should live in the same institute for at least two years before going on separate ways. So, I let it pass. She had the world to choose and I would not narrow it down just because I felt protective over her. She deserved more and I was sure that she would find the right person eventually. I started getting calls at eight in the morning. Tony was the first one to sing me happy birthday and I felt happy to have such an amazing boss.

Then, when we were having breakfast, Evelyn came to my table and congratulated me too. I was happy and when my friends from New York called me, my heart was full. As soon as I hung up from that call, Catherine pushed me back to our room and put a glamour on. Then, we crawled out by the balcony and when we were outside the institute, I stopped walking. "What's going on? Where are we going?" She put a wicked smile on her face and I was curious now. "To a concert. In Sydney, so open a portal, because we're late." I did as I was told and soon enough, we were in Sydney. None of us has ever been in Sydney before so we had to ask around to actually get to the venue, but when I read who was performing was like Christmas morning. Michael Bubble was such a great singer and his voice killed me every time I heard it. Maybe I had babbled about him enough for Catherine to get us tickets to his concert.

I was so lost on his voice that I literally cried when the concert ended. Catherine hugged me and took me out of the venue. "Wow." She said and I just nodded. There were no words to explain that kind of connection with a song. Cath had lost a lot for the amnesia and I had little time to catch her up. We portaled ourselves home and tried to act as normal as we could. I was happier for sure, but everyone just thought it was because of my birthday. As Sydney was ten hours ahead of London, we got back at lunch time. After the second Combat Fest, Leon had been more open to actually talk to me and he usually ate lunch with us. His friend on the other hand, avoided us at all costs. I just let the whole thing go, I could not hold a grudge on them forever, so I just did my job and I let them do theirs, fair and square. The awkwardness between missions was too much to keep it going, so I just moved on and hoped for the best for them.

Three days after my birthday, we went to another concert. This time we stayed in London as Maroon 5 had brought their music here. By the eighteenth, we went to Katy Perry's concert in Portugal and it was amazing what a bit of magic could do. Music was always a way out and I love it. We had ten days to fix the last details of our conjoined party. We had the venue and the drinks for the Shadow World attendees, we had to sort out the decorations and the cakes and of course, the mundane food/drinks. We wanted this to be the start of an alliance between mundanes and the Shadow World. Having Tony among our friends was a huge plus, we only had to let our world mingle enough with his. And so, February ended and with that came our conjoined party. We had chosen an awesome club downtown and hoped for the best. I had bought a dress for Cath, but I never told her, so when she was almost ready, I handed it to her.

She was not very convinced, but she looked fabulous. Tony arrived by eleven, doing his over the world entrance, almost stealing the attention from us, but he quickly handed it back to us. Jace, Alec and Tony talked and talked, which made me happy. Both of my worlds were sharing a moment. Everything was perfect.
