CATHERINE'S POV

I stopped thinking about my imaginary family and kept listening to Charlie talk and talk about my wedding. "Dude, let me handle the dating first, we literally JUST got back together." She rolled her eyes and nodded. "I'm scared of whatever I might feel when I'm with him again." She added after a long sigh. "He likes you. I told you that since we met him." She nodded. "And yet, you had the decency to care for his emotional side when no one else did. He was a mess when we stopped visiting him and instead of moving on, he came back to you." Charlie did not know what to say after that. "I just don't understand how you are the one giving me love advice." I put my hands up and she just hugged me. "You're going to be okay, Charlie. Just deal with it. Go with it. Have fun." After lunch, we tried to catch up on our missions and complete the statuses on every member of the Avengers.

Last thing we knew about Thor, he was in Asgard. Clint was in Missouri. Steve and Nat were in D.C. Tony and Bruce were in New York. Jace was okay with that, but asked us to keep an eye out for S.H.I.E.L.D. So, we added them to our daily surveillance. As for now, the Avengers were low profile, we were onto S.H.I.E.L.D and we decided to keep investigating about Sebastian. We had to be careful so the Clave did not know we potentially had something on them. Each day, we found something minimal, but each day we were left broken. Each night, I would sneak out to Matt's place and let him hug me enough to make me whole again. He would cuddle me, or hug me, or feed me, even sing to me so I could sleep peacefully and I was so thankful for that. Our relationship was becoming even stronger than before and I appreciated the support he was giving me. Although I said I would not be the girl that stayed with the first boyfriend, I was willing to stay with him.

By the end of July, Charlie and Steve had gone on two dates and he invited us to some party. We accepted and Matt picked us up and Steve just had eyes for Charlie. They looked happy, even if they were not back together just yet. They slow-danced the whole night, even if it was not a slow rhythm. After that, the weeks went by and we attended a new Halloween Party. Charlie had to convince Steve that they were not wearing something too shocking, he was reserved and Charlie was outgoing and yet, they found their perfect match with Gomez and Morticia Addams. It was funny, because Steve did not know a thing about the Addams' Family, so Charlie forced him to watch everything she found about them and she would get lost on the movies as Steve just got lost on Charlie. On the other side, Matt and I had chosen the characters from 'Oz, great and powerful' as Oscar and Theodora.

As Jace was around, Charlie avoided any closeness with Steve, she knew Jace was curious on her love life and she did not want to give him reasons to pick a fight. Steve danced with me as Matt was with Charlie. When the party ended, Matt took me to the Institute as Steve crashed on Charlie's apartment. Matt and I sat outside the institute and just stay there, hugging and looking at the sunrise. Being around Matt was fun, was romantic and was safe and yet, I felt like it was not the same anymore. We both had grown in these months away and I was thankful for all those night-stands I had back home, but there was no one like Matt. His company was out of this world and that made me reminisce of Loki and I wondered how was he. Maybe Odin had been too hard on him or maybe Thor had stepped up and defended his brother or maybe Frigga opposed to Odin's grounding. There were thousands of sceneries and I just wanted to know if he was alright.

All these months away had changed our mindsets. I craved something rougher, wild and I felt like Matt wanted that too, but he was too scared to ask for it, because I was too soft. "We need to talk." We both said and we giggled. We held hands and sighed. "This is not working as it should be." I started and it was like he could read my mind.
