Tessia Eralith

"How are you feeling?" Kathlyn asked me as we sat in the Helstea mansion's living room. They wanted me to move to the palace, but being here, it felt better, it made me feel better. My parents moved a lot of guards here, plus Lance Bairon was put in charge of guarding the city and this mansion especially.

"I'm alright." I told her, holding my stomach. "I've been struggling a little during the day, knowing that Arthur is out there fighting for us, and all I can do is sit here." I was a white core mage, but couldn't do anything because of the baby, I wasn't mad I was having it, I was just impatient.

"You know you are doing all you can do, Tess." She told me, it was just us two, everyone else was out doing something else, I didn't know what. "Arthur will be okay, you know that, he has a lot of help."

I nodded, things around here have been somewhat off, after what we heard about Veer, of course it would be. I mean, Arthur and I thought something was up, but this, I never would have thought that he would be trying to conquer a whole continent and enslaving his own people. There could be people here that are under his control, and we wouldn't even know, which was bizarre to me.

"I just worry about everyone, but I think it's the baby causing me to feel like this, and show it like I am." I told her, and she smiled, agreeing with me most likely. "I also have plans on seeing Nico, from what I heard from Arthur, I could get some more answers from him."

"I don't know about that, Tess." Kathyln told me. "He's a Scythe, a dangerous one, even if he isn't in a cell, and is locked up in a nice room, he's still dangerous and could hurt you at any moment even without mana."

"I doubt it." I shook my head at her. "I may be pregnant, but I am still a white core mage capable of defending myself." I also didn't think he would try to harm me, he was nice to Arthur, and it surprised him, but Arthur said he was different, normal, not under a spell anymore.

"I'm not saying you can't defend yourself, but you don't know what could happen." Kathyln told me, and I sighed. "Maybe another time when Arthur comes back, but I suggest not going to see him at the moment." She had a point, but I still think I would be fine, I could protect myself just fine.

"Alright." I said, nodding my head as I took a glass of nice cold water and drank it, holding my stomach with my other hand as I did, a habit that seemed to have grown from having this child. "I still can't believe we have two Scythes and a Retainer locked up here though, I hope this war ends soon."

I placed the cup down, but as I said that, I knew very well that this war wasn't going to end any time soon, not with everything going the way it has been. "Yeah, I'm with you." She leaned back into the couch, I felt bad for Kathyln as well, she had feelings for Veer, and he kind of just ignored them even after I told him. "I want things to return back to normal."

"I don't know if that'll ever happen." I spoke honestly. "I just want the war to end, to raise this child in a safe world." We both nodded, Arthur better come back in one piece, otherwise I'm going to have some words for Virion, it'll be his fault if he doesn't.

"I bet." Kathyln said, and we both went silent, thinking to ourselves as we did. I could feel the mana in the mansion so clearly, it was a gift that realistically Virion gave me, he made me into a white core mage, he kept me alive, it's just hard to believe he's doing everything he's planning on doing. "Tess, you ever think about Virion? Like, why he's doing what he's doing?"

"I think about it all the time." I told her, it seemed like we were both thinking about the same thing. "Why do you ask?" I turned to her and asked, wondering what was going through her head, and if it was the same as me.
