Arthur Leywin
I stepped through the portal, still lightheaded, that whole conversation with Veer was slightly confusing, it was hard to maintain myself. If I truly died, that's why, I just need to rest, and absorb aether and mana.
'You, okay?" Regis asked through our mental link, and I sent him a mental head nod as we appeared in the front of a palace, it was Etistin, the guards immediately got into fighting positions, but at the sight of me, they relaxed, even though Nico was here. 'You fucking died, how did that feel?'
'Not great, Regis.' I told him, I still can't believe Virion would do such a thing, well, he did such a thing. "Nico, just follow me, I'll make sure they understand, it'll take some time, but I won't let them do anything to you."
I felt bad for him, I did, he was being controlled before, and I can tell he regrets everything he has done. I can't say he doesn't deserve some sort of punishment, but right now, I need him, he is strong, stronger than most mages here in Dicathen.
"Thanks, Grey." He said softly, most likely thinking about Cecilia, her words cut him deep, even though they weren't hers. They were Veer's, he has her under his control just like Agrona. It makes sense, I see why he did what he did, but it's not right, not the way he's doing it.
"General Arthur." The soldier said in the front, observing us. "Go get Lance Bairon, inform him of General Arthur's return." The soldier at the top of the stairs ran inside as the door opened. "It's an honor, sir."
I gave him a head nod, still tired, my head was spinning, but I needed to push through it. "Come on." I said to Nico, and the two of us started walking up the stairs, but as I got halfway, a figure appeared at the top. "Bairon."
"Arthur." Lance Bairon, walking down to meet me halfway. "You are alive." He said, which told me everything, Veer was here obviously. "It's so good to see you, we were told you died, but we didn't believe it."
He stopped right in front of me, held out a hand, and as I took it, his eyes drifted to Nico. "I'm not dead, but there is a lot to talk about." I paused for a second, then added. "And he is back with us, trust me." Nico was already here for a while, but he was locked in a prison, but people talked to him, briefly, but still, they knew he was mind controlled. Some wanted revenge, some didn't, we'll see how it goes.
"Alright." Lance Bairon said, releasing my hand, and turning around, the three of us started walking up the stairs again. "We are actually having a meeting right now, not everyone, just some. I already sent word to everyone else, so you'll see ---"
"Arthur!" I heard someone scream my name as we entered the palace's main hall that had soldiers aligned across the walls. I didn't look at the walls though, I looked at the elf, my wife, the love of my live pacing towards me.
"Tess." I said softly, stepping up and taking her into my embrace as she reached me. My hands wrapped around her tightly, but not too tight, I didn't want to hurt the baby inside of her, but I couldn't help myself from holding her as long as I could. "I've missed you."
"I've missed you more." She said, holding her head in my chest, I could feel her heart beating from seeing me. "You said you would be back every week, you were gone for way too long, Arthur."
"I'm sorry, things happened." I told her, and as she backed away from me slightly, she looked up and made eye contact with me. "I wanted to come home, I really did." She tilted her head, then slapped me. "Hey."
"That's for not coming home sooner, and for worrying me, we thought you were dead." She told me, then hit me again, I flinched back. "Things happened, you better give me better explanation than that later."
