Yu's POV:

"C'mon. Your turn!" Chie urges, bouncing from leg to leg.

"N-nah," I mutter. "I can't..." I slump down on the bench.

"You're not gonna get anywhere with an attitude like that," she teases. "Hey... What's up?"

"...You think he's okay?" I mumble.

"Who, Yosuke?" She sits down beside me. "Yeah, I'm sure he's fine."

"I- I mean, he's bound to be back from Kanji's place now, right?"

"Probably," she shrugs. "But he should be there to comfort his parents, you know?"

"What if he needs me?"

"You're thinking too much."

"I'm serious, Chie. What if something happens while I'm not there? What if something happens because I'm not there?"

"Nothing will happen," she shakes her head.

"You don't know that. What if... Miura gets released early, and-"

"Stop right there," she frowns. "Miura is gonna be locked up for as long as possible. Naoto's on the case."

"What if somebody else comes along?"

"Nobody will hurt him," she assures.

"There's always a chance," I murmur.

"You wanna call him?" She asks, handing me her cell.

"What?" I frown.

"Go on. Call him."

I look at the phone in her hand, confused.

"See?" She scoffs. "You know it's best not to."

"I just want to see him."

"I know, Yu. But... there's no point drowning in this together."

"I don't care about that," I groan.

"Listen, I'll call Yukiko to check on him, alright?"

"Let me check on him," I frown.

"Seeing him sad will only make you worse."

"This isn't about me."

"It's about you as much as it is about him," she says. "You have to take care of yourself because you can take care of anybody else."

"You don't get it."

"Look me in the eyes and tell me that you're fine." She turns to me.

"I'm fine," I say through gritted teeth.

"I said in my eyes."

"Leave me alone."

"It's okay, you know?" She murmurs softly, rubbing my back. "He... really meant a lot to you."

"Yeah..." I choke up. "He really did, Chie..."

"I feel like this is partially my fault," she sighs.

"What?"

"If I didn't... I mean... If he didn't use me as a distraction..."

"No matter what happened, the outcome would have been the same," I shrug. "That's how it is with Miura."

"...I imagine you're pretty mad."

"Yeah," I mumble. "I am."

"You wanna head to the gym? I heard they just got new boxing stuff in. A good way to get the rage out."
