"Yoshino! Yoshino!" I shouted from my room as I held up shirts to my chest. I was forcing Shouma to join me while I went shopping today and I wanted to look good for him. But I'm not sure what he would like better since he was always closer to my sister than me. But that's not gonna stop me! I'm gonna get that man to like me, one way or the other! "Yoshino!"
"What?" My sister sounded frustrated as she stomped towards my room. She had been packing some stuff up, getting ready for her potential move to Tokyo to meet some man she might marry. Good luck to her with that, I don't want anyone if it isn't Shouma.
"Which one looks better? Oh! Better yet, which one do you think Shouma'll like more?" I couldn't help the smile that came to my face as I mentioned Shouma. I've been in love with him for as long as I can remember but I've always been too timid to do anything about it since he's always seemed to like my sister better.
Yoshino sighed. "Listen, I don't think clothes is the solution to trying to get him to like you. You need to just be yourself."
"I don't think being myself is the solution. If it was, he would've liked me by now." Now it was my turn to sigh as I flopped down on my bed, my discarded clothes surrounding me.
"Maybe you just need to be yourself but louder. Make him notice you and everything you do. Make him watch everything you do. Grab his attention by doing the things you love but with flourish. I think that's the way to make him love you."
I frowned. I didn't have many talents. I can't even cook as good as my sister does. I don't know how I would be able to grab his attention with my mediocre skills in everything I do.
"Maybe you should go talk to gramps. He's got more... experience than us in... love." We both shuddered, thinking about all the stories he used to tell us about his trail of broken hearts. Even now, if he wanted to, he could probably get any woman he wanted.
"I don't want him to know." I muttered.
"Don't want who to know what?" There was a low voice that startled me into sitting up.
"Sh-Shouma!"
His teal eyes looked between me and my sister before he sighed. "Are you ready? You have ten minutes."
"Y-yes! Just give me a m-moment." I shoved him out of my room, my cheeks blushing at the fact that I can feel his back. I could feel his muscles. Oh god.
"Yoshino... pick me out a dress."
~
I smoothed my dress down as I got off of Shouma's motorcycle. Maybe wearing a dress was a bad idea but I needed to do something to try to get his attention.Shouma stood next to me, lighting a cigarette as he looked out at the city center in Osaka. There were lots of people out today and I couldn't help but notice all the couples, their arms around each other as they smiled happily while they walked. Will I ever have that?
"C'mon, you only have a couple hours before we gotta be back at the house." Shouma said, stubbing his cigarette out on a wall.
"R-right. Um, are you hungry? I could go for some food right now."
There was a moment before he shrugged. "Sure."
He followed me through the Osaka crowds before I came upon a izakaya that I thought Shouma might like. I didn't figure he'd want to go to some cutesy cafe like most couples do. Which we're obviously not a couple.
"Here." I didn't wait for his response before going inside. I knew he wouldn't complain. He also wouldn't have complained if we went to a cutesy cafe. He wouldn't care as long as he gets food. But of course if you asked him if he likes it, he'll say yeah but it's not as good as Yoshino's cookin'.
