I sit bolt upright on a couch breathing heavily, my arms hurt as does my back and neck a sticky substance is smeared across my skin which I assume is dried blood. Dean is kneeling beside me a med kit in his hands that he just put a needle back into; without thinking I reach out wrapping my arms around his neck and cry heavily for a minute. He holds me tightly letting me go through the motions of coming out of a dose of Djinn toxin especially with it being the first time that I was ever hit with it as far as I can remember; he rubs my back with his free hand as I start to come down from it.

"You're crazy," he whispers in my ear, "I thought I was going to lose you."

"I couldn't leave Sid and his wife to them when they were innocent bystanders," I mutter, "I just had this gut feeling something was wrong and I acted on it," pulling back I look at him, "Dean, Samuel didn't even try to stop me, like he knew what was going to happen to me and it didn't faze him."

I know he can read the truth in my eyes without asking any more questions; he hugs me again this time I feel the spots where he sewed my skin closed.

"Where did they go?" I ask.

"Don't know," Sam responds from across the room, "they left in a hurry; I'm meeting them back at their place, unless you uh both are coming with me?" Dean shakes his head, "no, Lennie and I have to get back to Cassie."

"I thought you said..." Dean cuts his brother off, "I did, changed my mind," his eyes find mine.

"You'd do that for us?" I ask him and he nods, but at the same time I can see that this decision is really hard for him; he'll probably want to move or something to make sure those bastards or anyone else can't find us again.

"I really wanted that for you," Sam tells Dean, "I told you to go, I-I thought...you could have it; you know? But now I'm not so sure, I mean you got to consider the fact that you both could be in danger even putting your daughter in danger by going back."

"So what we're just supposed to leave her with my dad and not look back?" I snap.

"No, Melanie, I think it's safe enough for you to go back, every child needs their mother; but I wish Dean was coming with me."

Dean turns away from me keeping one hand on my leg, "why?"

"Don't be stupid."

"No I mean it," Dean grunts, "you know plenty of good hunters, I'm rusty. Melanie almost got killed; you can't tell me you'd take me over someone who hasn't been out of the life for a while."

"And that's why I want you."

I raise an eyebrow.

"What are you talking about?" Sam sighs, "you just went seeing Melanie and your neighbors in danger," he explains, "you didn't hesitate. Because you care, and that's who you are, me? I wouldn't have even thought to try."

"Yes you would," I mutter, "that's how you both are."

"I'm telling you, it's just better with you around, Dean. That's all."

Sam walks towards the front of the house, Dean follows him out for a few more words; I get up stretching my muscles that one fight sure knocked the crap out of me, I thought I was more than prepared but then again, I'd never gone against a Djinn let alone three at once. Shaking my head to clear it I head to the kitchen for a cold drink, my mouth is dry from the toxins and I'm still wobbly on my feet from crashing through the large windows. I feel the pull of Dean's handiwork stitches as I reach for a cup, then as I move across the kitchen to the sink, my chest aches where I was kicked, and I pull my shirt down slightly to see a large boot shaped bruise forming on my sternum and I grunt in agitation at the sight.
