Back at the house Dean runs off again while Sam tells me the plan; Dean didn't really specify what he was picking up, but I can assume a little bit.

"Um about your plan," Cass starts, "you'll only have 24 hours."

"Wait, what, why?" Sam asks sounding surprised and Castiel says, "well the answer to your question can best be expressed as a series of differential equations."

"Yeah, aim lower," dad grunts.

"The further back I send you," the Angel starts still holding my daughter, but she's climbed onto his back now, "the harder it becomes to retrieve you. 24 hours is all I can risk, if I don't pull you home within that time, you'll be lost to me."

Cassie wriggles down off the Angel's back as she hears the impala followed by the front door opening and closing signaling Dean's return; he comes into view bags in his arms and I can see Western logos printed on them; oh God he's got this kink thing about old westerns which drives all of us insane.

"What the hell's all that?" Dad asks making the oldest Winchester smile, "we're going native, got to blend in," he starts digging through the bags.

"Um, no, thanks, I'm fine." Sam says but Dean hands him a shirt and pants that look uncomfortable, "Sam," Dean grunts but he backs up, "Dean, I can – I can wear what I've got on."

"And look like a spaceman?"

"He's got a point, Sam," I say, "you'll stick out."

"You have a fetish," Sam gripes to his brother and Dean scoffs, "shut up, I like old movies." I roll my eyes, "babe you can recite every Clint Eastwood movie ever made, line for line."

"Even the monkey movies?" Dad asks shocked.

"Yeah," says Sam, "especially the monkey movies."

"His name is Clyde," Dean snaps, "at least wear the damn shirt."

Both boys take their clothes Dean bought and go somewhere in the house to change, Cassie had went back to Castiel who is now leaning against the wall by the couch; I hadn't tried to make a move towards my daughter she's frightened of me and yet not frightened of the Angel who put this damn thing around my neck. Without thinking I graze a finger over the metal touching it softly as if it's a calming gesture which in reality is not, Cass's voice brings me back into focus.

"Melanie, I am sorry about that."

"Then take the damn thing off," I grunt, "or can't you?"

"I...I...can't," he says, "I need you."

"So you're thinking if you take this off then I'll refuse helping you? Well guess what you're right and as soon as I'm free from it I'm gunning for your head."

A whimper stops my words and I look down to see Cassie burying her face in Castiel's trench coat and I groan, why the hell can't I keep my damn mouth shut? I turn to head into the kitchen for a beer when Dean appears in the Western clothes a blanket like thing over his shoulders his head poking out of the middle and I tilt my head not understanding what it is.

"You going to a hoedown?" Dad asks as Sam appears behind me.

"Now is it – is it customary to wear a blanket?"

Cass's question has me bursting out with laughter even if I'm angry at him, I can see Dean scowling through tears brought on by the laughter.

"It's a sarape," Dean explains, "and yes...it's...never mind. Let's just go."
