Pokémon Adventures 2: The Yellow Chapter

Ch. 26: An Icy Encounter!

We were at Route 21, en route to Cinnabar Island via riding Lapras. As we arrived at an area between the two, the Seafoam Islands, we unmounted Lapras and returned her to her Poke Ball.

Cameron: The Seafoam Islands. We get past here and Cinnabar Island is within reach!

Elaine: Right after we navigate the cave...

The entrance to a cave was nearby.

Cameron: Ready to uncover the secrets of the Seafoam Islands?

Elaine nodded.

We entered the cave and was immediately colder than a tundra.

I sent out Charizard, hoping its fiery tail can warm us up.

We navigated the endlessly empty caves for an hour until we stumbled upon a body of water.

We remounted Lapras as we traversed the area.

When we wandered into a fog, Pikachu started shivering.

Cameron: Something's wrong here...

Elaine: Same. Our partners are chilly.

We suddenly noticed a bird-like silhouette in the horizon. It had beautiful tail and a pair of large wings.

Cameron: Is that...

Suddenly, the silhouette appeared behind us in a burst of speed. It was one of the Kanto region's Legendary bird Pokémon, Articuno!

Pikachu and Lapras readied themselves!

Articuno waved its wings, creating a harsh gust of ice!

Elaine: It's Blizzard!

Cameron: Lapras, Ice Beam!

Lapras fired a beam of ice from its horn. Articuno dodged the attack!

Cameron: Pikachu, Thunder!

Pikachu jumped above Articuno and blasted a Thunder. Articuno wasn't quick enough to dodge as the move grazed its wing, resulting in paralysis.

Articuno used Hurricane and blew us out of the other side of the cave! We yelled as we fell to the ground!

Cameron: That was nuts!

Elaine: I know! We saw two of Kanto's Legendary birds so far!

We got Lapras back up and rode her the rest of the way to Cinnabar.

On our way there...

Elaine: Cameron?

I answered with a confused grunt.

Elaine: Remember that moment we had back in Fuchsia?

Cameron: Yes. What about that?

Elaine: Can...we just keep that moment between us? Don't tell anyone.

She was pretty serious.

Cameron: Cool your jets, Elaine. I promise.

Elaine: Thanks. I am easily embarrassed of that moment. Just thinking about it makes me flustered...

Same here.

Once we arrived at Cinnabar Island...

Elaine: Here we are.

Cameron: Yep. Just two badges left until I'm all ready for the Pokémon League Tournament.

Elaine was pretty quiet at that remark. I was the same. Our journey was almost over at this point, and we'd have to go to our respective homes.

Cameron: Well...let's get my seventh Gym badge!
