We are currently on a large ferryboat en route to Ever Grande City. The ride would take at least another three hours, so we had plenty of time on our hands.
Wally: Hey, Cameron.
I turned when he addressed me.
Wally: I feel like I want a battle from you as well. I felt a little inspired to battle my best, like you and May. So...are you in for a battle?
Cameron: Of course!
Wally: Okay! Let's have a three-on-three match.
Me and Wally walked to the battlefield beneath the boat.
And so, Wally sent out his first Pokémon, Exploud!
Pokédex: Exploud, the Loud Noise Pokémon. A Normal-type. Exploud communicate with one another using the tubes around its body. This Pokémon only uses its voice in battle.
Exploud let out a earsplitting and powerful yell!
I sent out Swellow to oppose Exploud!
Wally: Let's start strong! Exploud, Brick Break!
Exploud threw a punch!
Cameron: Dodge it and use Air Slash!
Swellow avoided Brick Break and retaliated with Air Slash, landing a direct hit!
Cameron: Use Brave Bird!
Swellow charged ahead with Brave Bird!
Wally: Don't let Swellow get close! Use Boomburst!
Exploud caused a burst of sound from its large molars, driving Swellow back!
Wally: Use Hyper Beam!
Exploud fired a massive Hyper Beam!
Cameron: Swellow, look out below!
Swellow was too late to avoid the attack and was defeated!
Cameron: Pikachu, your turn.
Pikachu nodded and walked to the field.
Wally: Let's win this! Exploud, use Crunch!
Exploud prepared to bite Pikachu!
Cameron: Use Iron Tail at its head!
Pikachu slammed an Iron Tail on Exploud's forehead, temporarily disorienting it.
Cameron: Now, Thunderbolt!
Pikachu quickly used Thunderbolt before Exploud could regain composure, defeating the Loud Voice Pokémon!
Wally sent out his next Pokémon: Minun!
Cameron: Use Quick Attack!
Pikachu sped to strike with Quick Attack!
Wally: Minun, Grass Knot!
Minun created two wads of grass and tied them together, tripping Pikachu over!
Wally: Now, use Thunder!
Minun prepared to launch a Thunder!
Pikachu quickly got up and ran around attempting to avoid Thunder. However, the attack was successful and scored a lot of damage on Pikachu!
Cameron: Ah, man. Don't give up, Pikachu! I'll think of something!
Wally: Minun, use Trump Card!
Minun threw five reflective cards around the field.
Wally: Use Wild Charge!
Minun jumped off the card as he struck Pikachu attack after attack!
Cameron: Run to one of the closest cards!
Pikachu desperately reached the closest card she get to!
When Minun was about to jump off the card Pikachu was at...
Cameron: Knock it down!
Pikachu toppled the card, causing Minun to jump off with haste and hit the ceiling, knocking itself out!
Pikachu smiled and ran back to me.
Cameron: Tired?
Pikachu laid down to answer my question.
Cameron: Okay. Go ahead and rest, 'cause you sure need it.
And so, Wally and I sent out our last Pokémon: Gardevoir and Gallade!
Cameron: May the best Psychic-type win!
Gardevoir nodded along with me.
Wally: That goes double for you guys!
Gallade streched its elbows, ready for action!
Cameron: Gardevoir, use Shadow Ball!
Gardevoir fired a Shadow Ball!
Wally: Cut it in half with Night Slash!
Gallade sliced Shadow Ball in half with Night Slash!
Wally: Keep going!
Gallade charged forward to attack Gardevoir with its continued Night Slash!
Cameron: Stop the attack with Psychic!
Gardevoir stopped Gallade in its tracks with Psychic!
Cameron: Use Moonblast!
Gardevoir scored a close-range hit with Moonblast!
Wally: Close Combat!
Gallade broke out of Psychic and relentlessly punched at Gardevoir at full power!
The attacks left both Psychic-type Pokémon at a standstill. One attack was left!
Wally: Psycho Cut!
Cameron: Shadow Ball!
The two attacks instantly connected, causing both Pokémon to fall. The battle was a tie for our Psychic-types.
Wally: A draw...
Cameron: What a match! You really are a great Pokémon Trainer, Wally.
Wally perked up at my compliment and thanked me. After our battle ended, the ferry captain announced that we have reached the waters off Ever Grande City.
Cameron: We made it.
Brendan: Hey, guys! We made it to Ever Grande City.
May: Come see it from here!
We all took a long look at Ever Grande City.
Cameron: Once we make port, the Hoenn League will soon begin!
