Tsubaki's pov

The wolf in front of us was starting to change shape, the body glowing with a bright blue aura surrounding it. A bright light shined, making all of us cover our eyes as it blinded our vision temporarily. When the light died down, I rubbed my eyes and looked back at the spot where the werewolf had been standing only to find no wolf. Instead, there was a person standing there. He had thick, straight black hair that was tousled about and made him look wild. His skin was almost as pale as white, honey-colored eyes which were very intimidating but there was something about him that made him seem less intense. He had a friendly face, not one of a criminal which only further made me think of him otherwise. His black wolf ears sat perfectly in his hair, the strange part was that he had human ears as well and he had a large black tail that swung slowly behind him. He stood as tall as Gray, broad-shouldered and slightly more bulkier than Natsu. He wore a plaid black and white shirt, blue denim pants, and black boots to match. On either wrist, he had black wristbands which seemed to be made of cotton.

"Who are you?" Erza stepped forward, "Are you the werewolf that has been attacking this cafe?" She asked. The young man took his eyes off of Natsu and I, his gaze shifting to Erza who was ready to fight if need be. "Yes, I am." His voice came out smooth and soft, but it was deeper than I expected.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Ryan."

"Why have you been terrorizing the town and this cafe?" I asked, Ryan shifted his gaze away from Erza and looked at Natsu, Gray, and me. We made eye contact for a brief moment and there was a look that I couldn't read. But one of the most notable emotions I picked up on was the absolute anguish he was feeling, which made me want to know more about him as a person. There has to be a reason he was cursed into this continuous cycle of becoming a werewolf and changing into his human form. He brushed back his hair, sticking a hand in his pocket, and sighed. "This has nothing to do with you," He said, "It does now that we have been requested by the town's mayor to put a stop to what you're doing." Ezra spoke up, "Why are you doing this?" My brother stepped in front of the three of us, he stood tall with confidence and he was ready for anything that  would have been thrown our way.

"I'm here to get back what was stolen from me... And to lift this curse." Ryan said.

"A curse?" Wendy asked, looking confused.

"What curse?" Gray crossed his arms, "The curse that has trapped me in this cycle of being a werewolf."

"What do you mean trapped you? Are you saying that someone from this town cursed you into a cycle of becoming a werewolf?" Lucy asked, looking confused. Most of us were pretty confused about what he had just said, none of us knew whether to believe him or not. My eyes shifted from Ryan to Erza, who was staring at him with watchful and observant eyes. When she caught me looking at her, she nodded her head and sent me a look which meant that she was going to take his words to heart. Lucy also seemed to believe him but Gajeel, Laxus and Jellal all looked very wary of Ryan. To be honest, I wasn't sure if we could trust his word but something told me that he was telling some part of the truth. My biggest worry was the fact that he could possibly be planning something a lot bigger, he wasn't simply here to terrorize the town. There was more to his story than just what he was telling us, someone most likely placed this curse on him because of a past history with him. The matter at hand was that we needed to stop him from terrorizing the town and get him to leave everyone alone.

"Yes... It's a lot to explain and I don't have to explain myself to any of you. Now, stay out of my way." Ryan's words were very sharp, he kept a calm look on his face but I could see the pain he was hiding. I wasn't the only one to notice because Lucy seemed to want to say something, she looked at me and I nodded letting her know that I understood what she was feeling. Everyone else stood very tense, "We can't do that, Ryan. We were given the task of stopping you by the town mayor. Either way, you aren't going to be able to get rid of us." Ezra took a small step forward, "Then I guess this means you're gonna have to try harder to stop me. You should get going now, I think you're needed elsewhere." There was an explosion in the distance, the ground shaking causing everyone to look toward the loud explosion that just took place. My eyes widened when I saw smoke filling the night air, and people's screams echoed in the air.

"Oh my god," Lucy exclaimed, covering her mouth.

"You-"

"Damn it, he used the explosion to create a distraction so he could get away." Ezra sneered, he looked very angry and I didn't blame him one bit.

"We can't just let him to get away!" Natsu shouted, "We don't have time to chase after him right bow, Natsu. There are people who need help and possibly injured people over there that take precedent over catching him right now. Everyone get moving, now!" Erza ordered, while I wanted to go help, I figured that everyone else had it covered. I slipped away the first chance I got without anyone noticing that I had left, heading in the opposite direction of the explosion. I used my keen sense of smell to pick up on Ryan's scent, managing to find a faint trail of it which headed away from the town's center. Without saying a word, I followed after it. I was going to get to the bottom of this whether Ryan wanted our help or not.
