Because of Siblings

On the Octopod, people have a lot of habits that developed because of their siblings.

Dashi now knows perfectly well when someone looks suspicious cos whenever Jane would not look her in the eye and was a little nicer and less wild than usual... she did something, and it usually would never be something good.

Along those lines, Peso learned how to run extremely fast to stop Pinto from jumping off a cliff when Pinto thought he could fly, or running around with a rather sharp icicle pretending it was a pirate sword, you get the point.

Both of them consider loud bangs coming from their siblings' room as a good sign that something terrible has happened.

Nonrelated: (I'm so sorry for this) But Peso was born a sweet little angel who could not hurt anyone or say anything mean. When Pinto was born, Peso was over the wall at the idea of a new baby brother and loved Pinto from the second he saw the egg, and spent hours talking to it, stroking it, holding it with his little flippers, kissing it, he even slept by the egg so it'd wouldn't have nightmares.

When the egg began to crack open, Peso got so scared until his baby brother popped out and chirped cutely. Peso was immediately in love and decided he'd never take his eyes off of Baby Pinto.

As Pinto and Peso grew up, they became closer and closer, and Peso loved him more than anything, but he always kinda wished Pinto would stay a cute little chick forever, and whenever Pinto was sad when he was older, Peso would always cradle his baby brother in his arms and sing a lullaby like he used to do when Pinto cried as a baby.

Dashi had begged her parents for a little sister or a little brother since she was 2, and they were always like, "No, you're enough." Until she was around 8, they decided to have another one cos Dashi wasn't too much trouble, and one more wouldn't hurt, so Koshi was born.

When they told Dashi, she was the happiest little puppy in the world and hugged both her parents so tightly. During her mother's second pregnancy, she'd always be by her mother's stomach to check on the baby, and when Koshi was born 4 weeks early (which is not good), and had to stay in the Intensive Care Unit for a while, Dashi was worried sick and visited her every time she could.

When Koshi finally came home, Dashi was ecstatic, and it was love at first sight.

Jane however... was a result of a tiny little slip up on her parents' part, and... wasn't expected to say the least. Dashi was the only one who was overly excited about another child in the family. Her parents were happy too, but they had responsibilities to take care of and Child Number 3 wasn't in any of their plans, and Koshi was 1, she couldn't care less.

When her mother had Jane in the living room of their apartment, took her to the hospital for a clean bill of health and the birth certificate, and brought her home, Dashi had already become an expert at holding babies and wouldn't let the baby go. Koshi was just staring like "Wtf did my parents bring home?" And when their parents convinced Dashi to let Koshi hold Jane for a little bit, Jane screamed as loud as she could.

"A beautiful start" to such a "wonderful relationship"
