Protective Nurture

Even though no one on the Octopod has any biological children, all the adults have a strong urge to protect small cute things, like the Vegimals and the kids.

The Captain would fight the armies of every country in the world to see his "little ones" safe and happy and would feel every little ounce of pain they ever had for them if he could.

The one time anyone can make Kwazii be quiet for a good amount of time is if one of his "babies" falls asleep in his lap and he doesn't have the heart to wake them.

The stillest and quietest the Captain and Tweak have ever seen him be is the one time Pinto fell asleep in his lap and Kwazii didn't want to wake him, so he stayed as still and quiet as possible. He didn't even make noise to annoy Tweak.

Even though Peso is kind of the adults' baby, he still considers the kids and Vegimals his "little angels." (All the kids have pointed out the inaccuracy of the name, but Peso keeps insisting that they are angels to him because they always have the power to make him feel happier.)

Shellington is so preciously awkward around children and babies, but he loves the Vegimals with all his heart and has once gotten up at 1 AM simply cos one of his babies had a nightmare, and he couldn't bear the thought of leaving them alone.

Dashi is obsessed with cute things, which is why she insisted on making all the kids mini Hamilton costumes. She nearly died of cuteness the first time she saw them in the costumes trying to run through the whole musical.

Inkling loves "young people". He's had "circle time" for the Vegimals and read them all books, he always helps Peso reach the books on higher shelves (cos he doesn't want Peso falling off the ladders) and he's basically a nanny for the kids.

Only problem: he's old and boring. VERY boring. Inkling's lectures are considered a form of torture by nearly everyone on the Octopod (Shellington respects the Professor too much, the baby Vegimals are too cute to be lectured, and Peso and the Captain are too nice to say anything) The kids sometimes poke fun at him behind his back for being old and a boomer.

Tweak is the has the softest heart of anyone. If one of the kids or Vegimals comes down to find her at 4 AM, she physically cannot say no, and let's them stay with her cos she loves them too much.

Kwazii and Shellington are banned from driving the Gups if one of the kids are going with them (for obvious reasons) Tweak has a bunch of other driving rules for them as well, but this one is the one she's the most serious about cos she doesn't want her babies getting hurt.
