Some things that happen on the Octopod are simply ironic. Sure, it's chaos, but sometimes funny coincidences happen.
For example, the time Kwazii insisted that he wouldn't get scared of a haunted house. He got scared even before Peso did. Even before Kwazii stepped foot in the building, he saw a spiderweb and ran away screaming.
The Captain seems the most "manly" and tough, but next the Vegimals, he's the one who does the most housework. He's even been caught in a frilly apron (Dashi bought it and it was the only apron that would fit him) making breakfast for the Vegimals as a treat.
When Shellington was given driving lessons by all the responsible adults on the Octopod, Tweak finally allowed him to take a Gup to go on a research mission. Shellington was so excited and he promised Tweak that he wouldn't crash. He crashed and was so sad and disappointed in himself that Tweak couldn't get mad at him and gave him even more driving lessons more Shellington-aimed. (Such as don't take your eyes off the ocean even when a rare sea creature swims by)
The kids often like taking each other's stuffed animals and action figures to use as villains or criminals in their games. This has gotten to the point where the kids have gotten used to action figures with dented bodies and missing arms and their guardians have gotten used to giving their stuffed animals at least 20 stitches a week.
The worst incident to have ever occurred was when Squirt's Jane Foster doll (The Mighty Thor) got half her face burned off and then was dumped in the Launch Bay to hide the crime. It's a bit ironic who's fault it was, really.
In an ad, all the crew saw something called a "dad pass" which meant that a dad could snatch their kids' food and they could do so because of a "dad pass" (because they were a dad). Ironically, it was Kwazii who used the "dad pass" (even though he wasn't a dad) more times than the Captain ever did.
