Mothers

Everyone on the Octopod loves some sort of motherly figure to them, related or not.

Min is practically like a mother to everyone on the Octopod, even the Captain, and she's even very gently shoved the Captain to his room and sat by him until he fell asleep after she found the Captain working at around midnight.

The Captain's real mother was equally loving, and made sure to visit her son and daughter any chance she got. This was rather embarrassing for the Captain when his mother and sister showed up at the door of the Octopod, and once he let them in, they began showing all of his crew all of his baby pictures.

Kwazii's mother was always his kindred spirit, and when he was a toddler, he'd sit in his mother's lap after a stay with his grandfather and tell her all of his stories for hours.

Even when he grew up and was living on the Octopod, he'd still text or call his mother every night. He'd always tell her stories of his day, and she'd always sing him a special goodnight song she sang for him what he was little.

Peso's mother dotes on all her children so much, and will show up at their doors about once a month or so with a care package for her babies.

When Pinto was still an egg, the first time she took Peso to meet his new little brother, Peso was a little scared of the egg and hid behind his mother the whole time. She only told him, "Mijo, there's nothing to be frightened of; that's your little brother or sister." And from then on, Peso was practically in love with Pinto, and wouldn't leave the egg for a second.

Shellington's mother had died when he was 12 from a cancer specific to sea otters, and from then on, it was his aunt who helped him and Pearl through their grief, and took care of them when their father could not. He still remembers his aunt, and makes a point to visit her whenever he can.

Dashi's mother was a sensible loving woman, rather like her. Her mother always made it top priority to make individual time for 3 girls, and took care of them to the best of her abilities. She often joked with Dashi, "I have 2 little girls, one manchild, and one little woman."

Tweak's mother left her when she was only 2, but Sandy filled in the role of mother, and Tweak often confided in her.

The Vegimals will give any female in the Octopod a "Mother's Day card" because the person they're giving the card to "loves them and takes care of them." They don't really under the difference between a mother and older sister
