School Experiences

Mostly everyone on the Octopod has been to school before, whether at their home region or on the Octopod itself.

Neither the Captain nor Bianca ever went to a public school until college because it would simply be too much of a pain to go to school when they have to migrate once every six months or so. Instead, their mother taught them, and the Polar Scouts had special schools for young polar bears who had to migrate.

Kwazii had hated school from a very young age, and when he was 12, he began skipping school regularly to sit by the ocean.

Peso went to regular school, and he rather liked it. It was the one time he and his mother could get away from his father, and since Peso's first day of Kindergarten, they walked 5 blocks to the school, and Peso and his mother always would kiss each other goodbye and give each other a beak nuzzle.

On Pinto's first day, he was so scared of going that he clung to his mother and hid behind her while she tried to coax him out and once she did, and he realized she was leaving him at the school, his sweet eyes filled with tears, and his mother reassured him that there was nothing to be afraid of, and she'd be back at the end of the day. At the end of the day, Pinto ran to meet his mother, and was just going on and on and on about how much he loved school, how many new friends he made, and how he couldn't wait for the next day.

This stopped around the 2nd week or so cos school sucks after around a week or so.

Shellington always was home-schooled cos he lived in the kelp forest, and there weren't any schools around, and he would often cuddle up to Pearl as a little pup and sit by her while she read him a story cos he wanted to be by his big sister all the time, and when it was time for HIM to start his education, it had been Pearl who had first taught him to read and taught him his numbers.

He ended up doing the same for the baby Vegimals, and would always read them little stories, mostly about how much a daddy/mommy loves their kids, then let the cuties read him one while sitting on his lap, and letting them point out all the "pretty pictures" to him.

Tweak had been homeschooled like Shellington, but started going to public school for her first freshman year of high school, and went back to homeschool a week later because public school just wasn't her style, and she has had it with the popular kids.

On the Octopod, the kids learn science and math from Shellington, and ELA and History from Inkling. Obviously, Shellington's the favorite teacher, hands down, but the kids are OK with Inkling.

Inkling will sometimes allow them a treat if they finish classes early such as reading them a story or letting them play in the ocean by themselves for a bit.
