Coping Methods

Most of the residents on the Octopod have coping methods to deal with their sadness and anger. Some work, some work just not as well.

Whenever the Captain feels bad about something he did and feels that he's a bad Captain, he tries to take his mind off of those thoughts by taking out his accordion and playing his heart out, but usually, thank goodness for Kwazii's eardrums, all of the rest of the crew can just tell when the Captain feels bad, and all of them will give him a big hug and have a "Captain Appreciation Night." to make him feel better.

Whenever Tweak gets mad at a Gup and/or Kwazii, she will storm off to her room, take her pillow, and scream into it for a good 5 seconds before coming back with the maximum level of anger for Kwazii or the Gup to survive. The Pillow Method works like 50% of the time, but Tweak has another method that works 100% of the time, and its go up to the HQ, give Dashi cuddles, and just hang with her bestie for a while until she calms down a little more.

If Peso gets all worked up over a patient's condition, he's learned to first make sure his patient is out of any immediate danger (This is Peso after all), put someone responsible (such as Inkling or Shellington if either of them are busy) in charge of the Sick bay for a little bit, and take an easy stroll around the Octopod and make himself a cup of hot cocoa to make himself feel better. Usually, Inkling realizes Peso's stressed out even before Peso realizes it himself, so Inkling takes it upon himself to make Peso a cup of tea and talk to him for a while until he's a bit calmer and reassures him that he has nothing else to worry about and he will look after Pinto for as long as Peso needs.

Dashi's coping mechanisms are sometimes good, sometimes harmful. She needs something to cope with the stresses of daily life plus her sisters and all the damages they'll cause if they're set loose (well, one of them at least). Yoga is her go-to coping method. She always makes sure to do at least 10 minutes of yoga each morning either before her sisters get up or once she's successfully booted them out of the room for a little bit. Her most shameful coping method involves hiding in the closet or going down to Tweak's room with a huge bucket of ice cream and shamelessly eating as much of it as she physically can.

The Vegimals are basically coping mechanisms with legs. They can provide anything from tissues when someone's crying to soft objects to punch to all the cuddles and kisses and love someone can take. The Vegimals hate seeing any of their family members sad, so they'll try everything to make them happy again.
