"Elder Treant I'm back." Sora shouted as he reached the ominous part of the forest. Noticing his arrival the Elder Treant waved its's long branches. The eerie way the tree branches and roots moved had scared him at first but now Sora was accustomed to the Elder Treant movements and grumpy attitude.

"You are late." The Elder Treant remarked as Sora approached his main body.

"Sorry, I tried to come sooner but it's getting harder and harder to travel the forest."

"I tire of your excuses? Did I not already clear a path clear of obstacles for your personal use?" The Elder Treant complained.

"You have and I'm grateful that there are no roots on the ground to trip me and the branches above have shifted to allow more light."

"Then tell me why has it become harder? And don't think I did not notice that "husband" of yours had escorted most of the way despite our agreement."

"Sorry, but I need his help. Recently my eyesight has gotten worse." Sora revealed.

Sora's eyesight had always been terrible. While blind in one eye his other eye had to compensate. after years it had weakened considerably. Keyne had requested the best craftsmen in the kingdom to make him new thicker glasses to help but there was no way to reverse or prevent the damage from worsening. Now Sora could only see vague shadows and shapes.

"Eyes? Such a weak and inferior adaptation is beneath someone of your talent."

"Talent has nothing to do with it. I'm a human and as a human I rely on my eyes to see unlike a Treant such a you who uses... Actually how do you see?" Sora said realizing he had no idea how a faceless tree could see anything.

"I do not 'see' I 'perceive'." The Elder Treant corrected.

"Okay, tell me how do you 'perceive'. Do you use vibrations or sound? Actually how does a tree even hear without ears?" Sora wondered. He had never thought about it before but the Elder Treant basically could see and hear anything that happened in his territory.

"Seeing and hearing are words only inferior creatures which lack talent in magic must rely on. As a magical being I use my skills to perceive the world around me. As someone with talent you could do the same."

"What do you mean?"

Sigh*

"Such idiocy. Have you learned nothing these past five years?"

Sora blushed from the Elder Treant's words. He had indeed been coming every two months to nourish the Treant with his plant magic and learn more about his unique magic. During which he learned to not only grow but also manipulate the plants around him. Much like the Elder Treant he could have plants move out of his way or turn into a trap to catch animals. He also learned how to communicate with the Elder Treant so Keyne no longer had to act as his translator.

Despite his obvious improvements Sora still felt there was more to learn. Or more specifically, he felt the concept of magic was more and more mysterious the more he learned about it.

"Sorry, but what do my eyes have to do with our magic lessons?" Sora asked in a more direct manner.

"Those who have mastered magic don't need to rely on the physical body to perceive the world around them. If you wish to truly see, then you must use your talent."

"More riddles. I really hate how he always uses damn riddles. Why can't he explain things in words I can actually understand?" Sora inwardly grumbled.

"What do you mean?" Sora asked.
