Malfoy Manor III

After the greetings, Sasuke stepped away to grab a drink, but for some strange reason, the daughters of the foreign families started to follow him. They tried to strike up conversations, but Sasuke always distanced himself.

They were persistent, but as soon as they got distracted, Sasuke slipped away, walking far from the other guests.

Sasuke: This was a complete waste of time. I should've gone to train, he thought.

He kept walking until he heard someone crying. Quickly, he headed in the direction of the sound, thinking something serious might have happened.

Upon reaching the source of the noise, he saw Daphne Greengrass crouched behind a bush. He approached slowly, but Daphne noticed him.

Daphne: Oh, it's you, Sasuke Uchiha. What are you doing here?

Sasuke: Why are you crying?

Hearing those words, she quickly wiped away her tears.

Daphne: I'm not crying.

Sasuke: Okay, you're not crying. I must have seen wrong—he said, glancing away. —I was invited by the Malfoy family.

Daphne: That's impossible. How can a Muggle-born wizard be invited to this kind of event? —she asked, and Sasuke shrugged. —You shouldn't be here. As far as I know, this party is actually a blind date. There are no Muggle-borns here besides you, since to preserve pure-blood lineage, we must commit ourselves to foreign pure-blood wizards.

Daphne stood up and kicked a rock by her side.

Daphne: I didn't want to come, but my mother wants me to marry a pure-blood wizard, and the purer the blood, the better, as it will benefit our family.

Sasuke: It seems your mother is very conservative. But where's Astoria? I didn't see her at the party.

Daphne: She couldn't come, she's sick.

Sasuke noticed the change in Daphne's expression at the mention of Astoria. She looked melancholic.

Daphne: Why aren't you with the others at the party?

Sasuke: I got bored. I prefer admiring the scenery. And you?

Daphne: I'm not in the mood for these formalities. I'm worried about Astoria.

Sasuke: She seems like a good older sister, —he thought, recalling his brother Itachi's face.

The place was quiet. They had a pleasant conversation and unconsciously sat together. At that moment, they heard a female voice anxiously calling Daphne's name.

Upon hearing it, Daphne's expression quickly changed.

Daphne: Oh no, my mother can't see you here with me. Hide —she said, looking in the direction her mother was approaching from.

Sasuke took that moment to vanish. Daphne was surprised when she looked back in Sasuke's direction, only to find he was no longer there. At that moment, Daphne's mother appeared.

Diana: So, you were here. Why did you leave without saying anything?

Diana seemed relieved to have found Daphne.

Diana: Let's go home. The banquet has ended.

Daphne seemed very afraid of her mother. She lowered her head and silently followed the matriarch.

The conversation between Daphne and Sasuke hadn't gone unnoticed by Narcissa Malfoy. She had been watching the entire exchange closely, but was startled when the emo vanished.

That was impossible. The manor was protected by anti-apparition spells. Narcissa stood thoughtful as she watched Diana and Daphne leave. She was about to do the same when she spotted Sasuke up in a tree. She was confused, wondering how he had gotten up there.

The party was finally over. Narcissa was pleased, as she had new information for Lucius, and had also managed to secure Draco's engagement to the daughter of the Parkinson family.

As the guests were leaving, Sasuke approached the Malfoy family to bid farewell and thank them for the invitation. He quickly withdrew, as the girls Lucius had selected were still trailing him.

Sasuke took a Portkey and returned to Diagon Alley, where he called Winky to take him home. He spent the following days resting, training, and meditating.

Time flew by quickly, and soon it was time to return to Hogwarts for a new semester.
