First Class

Sasuke left the dormitory and headed toward the Great Hall. While having breakfast, he noticed that some students from other houses and a few Slytherin students were looking at him.

Sasuke: I think this is all in my head, he thought as he sipped his coffee, ignoring the stares.

A few minutes later, he received the class schedule from monitors Sean Avery and Tiffany Selwyn:

Monday: Herbology with Ravenclaw and Defense Against the Dark Arts with Gryffindor.

Tuesday: Charms with Ravenclaw and Transfiguration with Gryffindor.

Wednesday: Care of Magical Creatures with Hufflepuff and Potions with Ravenclaw.

Thursday: Ancient Runes with Ravenclaw and Arithmancy with Ravenclaw.

Friday: Astronomy with Hufflepuff and History of Magic with Hufflepuff.

After breakfast, he left for greenhouse number 5 with Astoria and Luna, who were discussing the O.W.L.s since the fifth-year students would have to take this exam at the end of the year.

All the Slytherin and Ravenclaw students were in greenhouse number 5 along with Professor Sprout.

Sprout: Good morning, class. Today we are going to study this plant, she said while showing the plant, with a detailed explanation on the board.

Sprout: Can anyone tell me what plant this is?

Several students raised their hands.

Sprout: Mr. Belby.

Belby: Fertilizer bush.

Sprout: Correct, 5 points for Ravenclaw.

Sprout: Who can tell me the characteristics of this plant?

Several students raised their hands again.

Sprout: Mr. Uchiha.

Sasuke: The fertilizer bush is a carnivorous plant. As the name suggests, it has the ability to produce its own fertilizer. This plant is used in potions to enhance conservation.

Sprout: Correct, 5 points for Slytherin.

Sprout: As you can see, these plants are still young. I want you to separate the fertilizer produced and put it in these bags. Use dragon-hide gloves to avoid injury. Since they are still very young, they are not poisonous yet.

Everyone was working in groups, but from time to time, a few students were bitten. They were not injured thanks to the gloves, but they still got quite a scare. At the end of the class, Professor Sprout assigned two scrolls as homework on carnivorous plants.

After leaving the greenhouse, Sasuke, along with Astoria and Luna, headed to the Great Hall for lunch since he would have Defense Against the Dark Arts with Gryffindor in the afternoon.

During lunch, a few owls came in, bringing letters, newspapers, and packages.

Sasuke hadn't subscribed to the Daily Prophet. While everyone talked about what was happening outside Hogwarts, he thought he needed to get to his base in the Forbidden Forest as soon as possible. He needed to clean the place and prepare for training, increasing his chakra reserves to be able to use the Rinnegan to its fullest capacity. So far, he hadn't been able to use any of the Rinnegan's abilities.

After lunch, he left with his fellow Slytherins for Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Everyone sat in silence, waiting for Professor Snape.

The professor finally arrived, and as he entered, all the students were already quiet.

Snape: I want your complete attention. So far, you've had three professors in this subject.

Snape: Naturally, each teacher had their own methods. The Dark Arts are quite varied. Fighting against them is like facing a multi-headed monster; when you cut one off, two fiercer heads grow back in its place.

Snape: Your defense must be as strong as your offense. Now, I want everyone to look at the board.

Everyone turned to the board where they saw a woman trapped inside a cage. Her body began to deform as she screamed in pain. In the end, that person transformed into a serpent. After some time, she returned to her human form, but with clear signs of exhaustion.

Snape: Can anyone tell me what this is?

Colin: An animagus. We studied them with Professor McGonagall.

Snape looked at him with disappointment.

Snape: Anyone else?

Sasuke raised his hand.

Snape: Mr. Uchiha.

Sasuke: It's a maledictus, professor.

Snape: Correct, 5 points for Slytherin.

Snape: Maledictus are individuals whose blood is cursed, leading them to permanently transform into a beast over time. The curse only occurs in women and can be passed down from mother to daughter. Maledictus can transform from human to beast and vice versa, but they clearly cannot maintain this feat indefinitely, as they will eventually become beasts permanently. Depending on the curse, they may transform into other creatures.

Snape: The difference between them and an animagus is that during the transformation, they experience unimaginable pain. Returning to human form drains the life energy of the host until the beast takes control.

At the end of the class, Professor Snape assigned a task: to write four scrolls about maledictus.
