Draco felt like he had been crying for hours when he finally looked up at Hermione. Sympathy was in her eyes.

"Tell me," was all she said.

The words spilled out of Draco's mouth; about Harry's scar, Draco's mark, how he had tried to distance himself, everything. When he told her how he had hurt himself to get it off, Hermione gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.

"God, Draco. Promise me you'll never hurt yourself again," she whispered.

"I promise," Draco muttered. "Doesn't matter anymore, I broke up with Harry."

"So he would stay away," Hermione whispered, realizing. "God, that's the most tragic love story I've ever heard."

Draco leaned back, the back of his head touching the wall. "I don't know what to do now. I'm nothing without him, Hermione. He's my everything."

"I know," she replied softly. "I see how you look at him when you're together. You both practically worship the ground the other walks on. You're devoted to each other."

Draco nodded. "Without him, I'm not even me. I'm just a shadow of me."

Hermione shook her head. "I don't know how to help you."

Draco shook his head too. "You can't. Go comfort Harry. He's gonna need it."

Hermione frowned. What did he mean, 'going to'? Harry already needed it.

She stood, whispered some meaningless apology, and set off to the Great Hall.

However, when she finally reached it, and opened the doors, Harry wasn't at the Gryffindor table.

Frowning, she walked up to Ron. "Where's Harry?"

Ron shrugged. "He was crying, and then straightened and said something about 'he understands now' and ran out."

Hermione shook her head. What was going on?

She left the Great Hall again to find Draco. But when she reached the corridor again, she froze.

Draco was gone.

Draco couldn't feel. His body, his mind, his heart was numb.

He just kept walking up the stairs.

He couldn't feel any tiredness from walking up all these stairs, because he didn't feel anything at all.

He finally reached the top of the Astronomy Tower, and walked to the edge. He stepped up on the wall, and looked down at the grass miles below.

He breathed in, closing his eyes.

Suddenly, a hand was in his.

Draco's eyes flew open, and he stared at the raven-haired boy next to him.

Harry's eyes reflected the pain Draco himself was now experiencing.

Harry looked down below them, and back at Draco, squeezing his hand.

Draco nodded. His mouth felt dry, but with Harry by his side, everything felt right.

"Scared, Potter?" he managed to whisper.

Harry smiled, letting out a soft laugh.

"You wish."

And they both leaned forward at the same time.
