"Everyone clear... 200 joules! Clear..." Vince eventually took charge conducting CPR on Abbey as he was convinced he could restore her back to life.

"Pulse and rhythm check in 2 minutes."

Come on, Abbey! I'm hoping you'll make it through this one. I wouldn't allow anything to happen to you, there's a great deal I need to tell you, he reflected himself, desperate to rescue their daughter.

"Vince," he heard Tricia whisper, while he sensed her grasp on his arms intensify.

He returned his gaze to his wife, who was staring at them with apprehension, "I can save her, Trish, I need you to trust me, please," he reassured her before returning his attention to everyone and continuing what he had been doing.

Tricia caressed his arms once more and muttered, 'I trust you,' before whimpering uncontrollably.

"Resuscitation attempts haven't lasted at least 15 minutes so far," the chief of surgery stated emphatically, "We can make this team, follow Dr. Vince's lead," he appended.

     "Everyone clear..." Vince stated again.

"2 minutes CPR done. Checking pulse and rhythm..."

Until the very last attempts, neither of them would have decided to give up on Abbey when they suddenly heard the steadily increasing beeping sound of the defibrillator.

At that instant, they understood Abbey was battling for her life with their intervention.

As when the flat line vanished and the flow restored to normal, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

"Well done, Vince. I never doubted you," the chief patted him on the back.

Vince was exhausted, but he managed to smile in response. He let them settle things back and observe Abbey for a bit before they departed.

Tricia waited for everyone else to leave before approaching Vince and shutting the door behind her.

"Vince, hon," she speaks softly as she sits alongside him.

Not implying a single word, instead, Vince returned his gaze to his wife, smiling, and allowing her to embrace him tightly as he reciprocated it securely.

"Thank you for saving her, hon," she said while she clutched his cheek.

"I feared we'd lose her," he whispered, caressing his wife's back and planting a delicate kiss on her temple, "I didn't protect her mother, but I'm willing to sacrifice everything now to save Abbey; she always been a member of our family."

"You stood your ground, and I couldn't have been pleased; I love you, hon."

"I love you too, thank you for trusting me," he replied, closing the space between them, hugging her tightly, and shedding tears, "I will do everything for our family."
