Freddie booked a limo, and had the driver come pick Roger and I up. We had to drive to a fancy hotel room they had booked for this conference. I had to admit, the paparazzi did get to me a bit, but I learned to ignore them after a while.
We soon arrived at the conference room. As we got out the limo, flashes were everywhere. They were all saying multiple things at once, some things I didn't really want to hear. Roger knew I was getting uncomfortable, so he walked in with me hand in his.
We went to sit down and the room was completely full. I had a spot next to Roger, Ronnie had a spot next to John, and Mary had a spot next to Freddie, and to my surprised Chrissie was sitting next to Brian.
"Chrissie you made it!" I said as I went to hug her.
"I sure did, I wanted to try and come to support Bri but the morning sickness is killing me," she said.
"Aw you poor thing, soon it'll all be worth it," I said.
"It sure will," she smiled.
We sat down as the press conference started. Roger put his hand on my thigh and that stirred a lot questions from the paparazzi.
"Roger what made you choose her?"
"Roger, what are you hiding behind that ring?"
"Madelyn, why is Roger acting different today?"
Question after question.
"Probably because you all won't shut up and leave him alone!" I snapped. They all went quiet.
"Can we talk about the album now?" Brian asked.
"Alright alright, do you think your song Bohemian Rhapsody will get to number one Freddie?" One asked.
"I sure hope so darling, it's a bloody masterpiece." He said confidently.
The crowd was bombarding them with all kinds of questions, then one of them was for me.
"Madelyn, we've already heard about Chrissie and Veronica's pregnancy. Do you think we will be hearing one about you soon?" A man asked.
"Slow down there, I'm not even married yet. How the hell could you ask me a question like that?" I said.
The man had a snarky smile on his face, and he didn't care about my privacy at all I could tell.
Eventually I got overwhelmed and decided to go in the back behind the curtain.
"Rog, I'm going to wait behind the curtain for a few minutes. This is all just too much for me right now," I whispered.
"Do you want me to come with you? I'm honestly getting tired of this as well love," he whispered back.
"If you want," I said and he nodded. We got up, hand in hand, and walked behind the curtain. We heard lots of people asking where we went or what we were doing.
There was a sofa in the back we decided to have a bit of alone time on, it was quite cozy. Roger sat me on his lap, I put my head in the crook of his neck and sat there comfortably.
"I'm so sorry about that love, I didn't know they'd go that far," Roger said as he held me in his arms.
"It's alright I guess, I'm just afraid of how the public will actually react when I actually am pregnant," I frowned.
"Don't let them get to you, they're always up out arseholes. I'm more pissed that they tried to get in on your privacy too," he sighed.
We sat there for a good twenty minutes, then decided to head to the bar at the hotel.
I had a red whine, and surprisingly Roger had gotten a whine as well. He stopped smoking by the time we got back from Rockfield.
Something in him changed, but I'm not complaining.
