Gio: Professor! Why does my phone screen look like this now?
Professor Gara: That's because your Pokedéx has two functions. The first gives you data on a Pokémon, including it's type. The second allows you to view all the Pokémon you've caught.
Professor Gara touches the screen and it has one slot filled
Gio: So since Chimchar was the Pokémon I chose, it's already been registered to my Pokedéx.
Professor Gara: Correct. And with each new Pokémon you catch, your Rotom Phone will update its index.
Natsu: Wow!
Gio: This makes ne want to go out and catch even more Pokémon!
Natsu: Then let's do it! Let's catch some Pokémon!
Gio: And I know just the place to go, let's head to Kanto!
Natsu: Kanto?
Professor Gara: Why there?
Gio: Because Kanto has the region where Pokémon were discovered. I want my first day of catching Pokémon to be where they were discovered.
Professor Gara: All right. I'll make travel arrangements for the airport.
"In a large grass clearing"
Natsu: Wow!
Riolu: Rio!
Tigra: Gra!
Gio: This is the perfect place to catch Pokémon! Good thing I brought tons of Pokéballs!
Chimchar: Chim!
Chimchar jumps off Gio's shoulder and heads to a tree
Gio: Chimchar found one!
Natsu: C'mon!
They run over to Chimchar and look up the tree, they see a Pidgey
Gio: Pokéball go!
Gio throws a Pokéball and hits the branch. Pidgey uses Gust and blows them all away
Natsu: Sometimes you have to battle them to get them in the Pokéball.
Gio: Noted. Chimchar, let's find our next Pokémon.
Chimchar: Chim!
They look up another tree and see a Pidgeotto
Gio: A Pidgeotto!
Chimchar runs to Pidgeotto and it flies away
Natsu: No!
Gio: Chimchar, you great senses.
Chimchar: Char.
Gio: But you can't make a huge scene or the Pokémon will run away, okay?
Chimchar nods, a Diglett comes out
Gio: A Diglett!
Chimchar jumps and dives to Diglett who hides and comes back out behind Gio
Gio: There you are!
Chimchar repeats, and Diglett doesn't come back out
Gio: No!
Natsu: Oh boy.
Gio: Aw man.
Chimchar runs to the bushes, and the other join it. They see a Caterpie eating a leaf
Natsu: That's a Caterpie.
Gio and Chimchar crawl to the Caterpie
Gio: Nice and slow. And go!
