"At Gara Laboratory"

Natsu lays on the couch in the meeting room, his phone on the floor showing his rank as one thousand

Natsu: We dropped a class. We dropped a class.

Gio: Hey, you'll get over it, and make it back into the Great Class in no time.

Natsu: Three losses in a row. First to Kyuta, then that Tentacruel trainer, and then the Octillery trainer. Can today get any worse?

Professor Gara: Well now you're gonna regret saying that.

Natsu: Why?

Professor Gara: A lot of sand has built up in Mauville City. People can't get through it and are being drawn into it.

Natsu: Officer Jenny can handle it.

Gio: Sorry but no. This just screams "rare Pokémon."

Gio drags Natsu off the couch with Riolu and Tigra helping him

"In Mauville City, near the sand tornado"

Gio: Look at that sand!

Natsu sulks

Gio: Pull yourself together! We have research to do!

Natsu: Right.

Singing comes from the sand

Natsu: It feels like it's calling to me.

Gio: I get the feeling people are inside it. Time for some Go Goggles!

Gio and Natsu put goggles on. Riolu, Tigra, and Monferno do the same. A pair floats by their feet

Natsu: Aah!

Gio: What the heck is that!

Cresilix becomes visible

Gio: Oh right.

Natsu: Into the sandstorm!

Gio: Yeah!

They run into the sandstorm and take the goggles off

Natsu: The wind's calmed down.

Gio: Yeah.

People: Help us! Please!

Gio: C'mon!

Natsu: Right!

They run to the people and see them stuck in a sinking hole. A Trapinch sticks its head out in the middle

Gio: Rotom, who's that?

Gio aims his Pokedéx at it

Pokedéx: Trapinch, the Ant Pit Pokémon, a Ground type
