Kawaki sat on the ledge on the balcony, looking up at the night sky. Ko was beside him, her hands swiping at her face uncomfortably. He looked to her quietly, handing her a tissue. She gratefully took it, wiping the liquid off of her face. "That stuff was so gross." She muttered darkly, glaring back at the mansion. "Whoever made those floors should be fired."
They were staying at an empty mansion they had passed by, the exterior and outside decaying. Ko had fallen into one of the lower levels, fallen into a pile of mold and blackened sludge all over the walls and floors. She wiped her face, feeling the substance making her itchy. Kawaki stayed quiet, pulling her lightly over to him by her arm. He wiped it off of her face, taking the tissue back from her. He nodded, listening to her vent. "It smells here." She frowned, looking around the creepy dark house. "I don't like it."
"It's okay for one night." He sighed. "We have to find out what happened to the villagers." Kawaki muttered. "Looks abandoned, a good idea for a base." He gestured for her to take a seat. She nodded, sitting down on the balcony with him. "This was city hall at one point." He murmured. They were sitting on the second floor, the above levels locked. "I bet you there might be clues, we didn't have a lot of time to search." He muttered.
"Yeah, I just wanted to get this dirty stuff off." She pouted, shaking her hand. "It's so gross." He leaned over, giving her a sniff.
"It is." He agreed. "Smells like a dead animal." He chuckled lightly as she threw a fit, swiping angrily at her clothes. "You want to go back down, take a closer look?" He asked her.
"Yeah." She frowned, crossing her arms. "I'm not sleeping in this creepy, haunted place." She frowned, looking up at him. "There's gotta be somewhere better." He shook his head, sighing.
"It's not that bad, it's just necessary for now." Kawaki shushed her, pointing out at the balcony. "After all, it overlooks the widest range. It's the center of the village, and we can see people coming over the hill. Stop." He said quickly, watching her about to cry. "It's just a base, it's not a big deal."
"It's cold and wet, and gross and covered in mold!" Ko whimpered, looking around the scary hallway. "Everything in here is decaying. I can't sleep like that. I'm staying up all night!" She challenged him. Kawaki shook his head at her, listening to her vent.
"A shinobi doesn't always stay in five star hotels." He rolled his eyes lightly at her, watching her panic as she walked around. "We have blankets and you can sleep in your coat. I'll set a fire so we can stay warm." He murmured, standing to go look.
"Well don't worry about firewood, I mean you can use the flooring!" Ko laughed loudly, stepping on the floor with a loud squeak. "We'll have plenty!"
"Okay princess, go get me some." He ordered her, smirking as he looked over the valley. Ever since they had arrived, it had been completely quiet. Every house was destroyed, every shop looted and quiet, and not a single person was spotted. The most they had seen was wild animals and vermin. Ko looked at him with a pout.
