Chapter 138

    Boruto put her down, Y/N glaring at him as she raised her hand again to smack him. "Stop!" He shushed her, barricading the door. "We have to keep going. The meeting place is around here." He muttered, his hand hovering over the door. Chakra sealed the door to the stairwell shut, the boy moving in a panic. "He's gonna come after us, we need to get the baby quiet."

    Artemis was still crying, wriggling around in his carrier as Y/N looked down at him. She frowned, feeling bad for him. His face was bright red again, screaming as he kicked angrily in his seat. "I need you to take the baby and run, Boruto. Your dad wouldn't want you here." Y/N glowered at him. "I'm not going to be responsible for this."

    "Auntie, it's fine." He grunted, pushing the large desk against the door. "We have to go and regroup."

    "Did you do that?" Y/N pointed upstairs as he grabbed her free hand, rushing them away as he went running down the hallway.

    "Yeah." He huffed, listening to the pounding on the door. He turned the hallway with them, a frantic look on his face now. "I tore the sealings off, wondering what was inside. I found those things in a room." He grunted, turning the corner again as they hit more stairs. "Listen, we're not gonna abandon them. We just need to regroup."

    "People are getting hurt upstairs." Y/N huffed, kicking her heels off as she went. She followed him, the slapping of her bare feet against the wall. Artemis continued crying, uncomfortable in his chair as he kicked. "You caught them off guard but that's not going to last long. Then you've got the problem of about a few hundred of them highly trained and on standby." Y/N snapped, Boruto kicking open the door to the stairwell. "You should have never came here, this is a suicide mission." Y/N gasped, hearing the bottom door slam open.

    Boruto grunted, knocking a heavy machine in the path of the door. "Keep running, and you don't think I knew the consequences?" He huffed, running still with her hand in his. "Turn this corner. God dammit we'll never lose him if this baby keeps crying." Boruto groaned, keeping an eye on his back.

    "He was going to take us home tonight." Y/N huffed. "You didn't need to come, he was going to let us go." She whipped around the corner, the boy looking at her incredulously. "What?"

    "Is that what he told you." He laughed. "You realize he can tell you anything you want to hear, right? Anything to get you to stop struggling." He pulled her into a room, pushing the nearest heavy object in place. "It's his goal to make you less uncomfortable around him." Y/N glared at him.

    "It's not true." She snapped. "We were going home, why else would those things be there?" She turned, looking at the hole in the wall. Boruto grabbed her hand again, pulling her through it as they kept cutting through classrooms.

    "Listen, I don't know what he's told you, auntie." Boruto said with a frown, helping her up the staircase. "But he's in a dark place right now. You can't believe everything he says." He sighed, looking both ways. "He can tell you whatever he wants because he knows you'll believe it." Y/N huffed. "He's always been a good liar." Boruto frowned.

    "Isn't that your brother, don't you have faith in him?" Y/N huffed, rubbing Artemis's stomach as they went running. The baby was still crying, sobbing as he reached for her. "I know very well that people can be brought back from the darkness." Y/N frowned, chasing after him.

    "Auntie, he's taking advantage of you because he knows you're not well." Boruto wrapped his arms around her, heaving her up and onto the vending machine. "There's a hole in the wall, just push the plywood out of the way." He ordered her. She did as she was told, pushing the false door so she could climb in with the baby. "He doesn't want to take you home, he wants to make you feel bad so you'll stay." Boruto grunted, jumping up and into the space as he pushed it back. "He wants to trick you so you'll trust him more." He pushed the plywood into place.
