Entry 988
Tuesday 11th June 2019I slept like a log! Nikki's bed is so much more comfortable than mine. What with Nikki turning up covered in blood yesterday, and me moving out after having a go at Auntie Meryl, I really didn't think I'd sleep well... But I did.
I got up early and thought I'd treat Nikki, so I made her breakfast in bed; fancy eggs, some sausages and toast cut into heart shapes all on a plate placed on a tray with a fake red rose. I walked into the bedroom, placed the tray at the end of the bed and gently woke up Nikki. "Wake up babes," I quietly said, nudging Nikki. She opened her eyes and looked at me. She smiled but her smile was quickly replaced with a frown when she saw the tray at the end of the bed. "What's that?" snapped Nikki. "Breakfast in bed," I said, with a smile on my face, "Thought I'd surprise you." I picked up the toast. "Look," I said, "I cut the toast into heart shapes." "God, Luke," moaned Nikki, "What are you doing? You're going to get crumbs everywhere, and it doesn't look like you've washed that tray properly. Jesus Luke. You know what I'm like about germs and my God, those eggs really smell. Get it out of here." I must say that Nikki's response disappointed me. "Sorry," I said, with a sad expression on my face, "I just thought I'd surprise you. I thought it would be nice." Luke, will you get it out of here!?" Nikki snapped. I quickly removed the tray from the bed and placed it outside the bedroom door. Nikki flapped her sheets and removed what she said were annoying crumbs. I couldn't see any crumbs but anyway.... "Did you sleep OK?" I asked. "Yeah, not too bad," said Nikki, "I just want things to get back to normal. Do me a favour babes, if you're going to drink tea don't slurp it like you do. The sound you make really gets on my nerves. And if you eat snacks on the sofa make sure you have a napkin or something, because you make a right mess, oh, and you need to remember to take your shoes off. I don't like the idea of you walking all over the house with your mucky shoes on." "Yes, mein fuhrer," I giggled. Nikki gave me an unimpressed look. "Sorry," I said, "Just a joke. "Yes, well I am not joking," said Nikki, "I mean it. After what I have just been through, I'm not in the mood for jokes. Anyway, like I say, I'm not joking. If we're going to move in together I am not putting up with all this cr*p. I mean it Luke, I'm not living with a messy man." "Yeah, OK," I said. "So, are we really going to do it?" asked an excited Nikki, "Move in together?" "Absolutely," I said, putting my arms around Nikki, "I know it's a bit quick but I think we should do it. Life's too short. Live for today and all that. Anyway, Leo thinks you're great. I think you're great and everyone around here is getting on my nerves." "Yeah well after all the sh*t your so-called friends and family have thrown at me I can't wait to get out of Cowes," said Nikki. "Well I'll speak to one of the GRID lot today and see if they can get us moved," I said. "Good," said Nikki, "Tell them we want to go to Sandown. Somewhere near the beach." "What about Ryde?" I asked. "Well that can be option two," said Nikki, "I want to be in Sandown. It's further away from Cowes than Ryde." "OK," I said, "I need to see if Mum will look after Leo." "Don't be silly," said Nikki, "I'll look after him. We're all going to be living together soon. I need to get used to looking after the little guy." "OK," I said with a smile on my face. I gave Nikki a kiss and felt incredibly positive.
On my way to work I saw a GRID soldier and told them that Nikki and I wanted to move and wanted to know if there was any chance of us moving to Sandown near the sandy beach. The solder said they'd get Blade to come and chat to me but that they couldn't say when, however, a few hours later when I was finishing work Blade showed up. I was surprised to see him. He looked stressed and tired. "Oh," I said, "Hi." Saying nothing Blade extend his arm and held out his hand and offered me a bunch of keys. "What's this?" I asked. "What does it look like Luke?" Blade bluntly asked, "It's a bunch of keys." I frowned with confusion. "OK..." I tentatively said. "Just take them Luke," said Blade, "I haven't got time for this." Still looking confused I slowly retrieved the keys from Blade. "What's wrong with you?" snaped Blade, "You said you wanted a house by the beach in Sandown, so you've got a house by the beach in Sandown. Crescent Road. Nice semi-detached house. Two minutes' walk from the beach. There are the keys, I've changed your address in the official records. That's where you, Nikki and Leo live now. Get moved in by the end of the day tomorrow." Blade staretd to walk off. "Wait, hang on a minute," I said, "Is that it? As easy as that?" "Luke," said a firm Blade, "Usually I would love to stand here and get involved in a back and forth with you but I'm too busy." "Are you OK?" I asked. "You looked stressed." "Is it any wonder!?" Blade snapped, "I'm trying to run this island as best as I can, I've got to get the walls around the suburbs finished and now I've got to find some nutter who kidnapped your girlfriend, and that's whilst trying to sort out Natasha and her QCUC stuff with reduced man power, so I can do without you asking me for a change of address, but if I can get it sorted by chucking a set of keys at you, then that's what I'll do. Now get moved in. I've arranged for a man with a van to come to Nikki's tomorrow morning to help you get moved. Enjoy your new home." Blade then walked off. A part of me was a bit worried about Blade, He looked exhausted but to be honest I was more focused on the fact that I'd just got the keys to mine and Nikki's new house – just like that!
