Entry 1040
Friday 2nd August 2019

Mum turned up at TJ, Trudy and Mike's today and a heated confrontation followed.

I'd been out for a walk with Leo, I came back, got him settled and then when I came back downstairs, Mum was in the living room with Mike, Trudy and TJ. "Oh," I said, as I saw the unimpressed look on Mum's face, "You alright?" "No," Mum bluntly snapped, "Trudy's told me you've been living here for the best part of a week with Leo, and this is the first I've seen you. Why didn't you tell me what was going on? Look at the state of you. I mean you usually look like a tired old man but look at you now. Even worse than usual. Blood, cuts, bruises. That woman has gone too far. Well, you might not listen to them, but you'll listen to me. You're not going back there. You're just not. It's as simple as that. I am not letting a son of mine and a grandson of mine, go back to a place where there's a violent banshee chucking plates and coming at you with some scissors. It's just not going to happen. Oh, and another thing, I..." "Oh God, will you shut up?" I snapped at Mum, "Jesus." I looked at Trudy and frowned. "Did you get her round here?" "Well, you won't listen to us," said Trudy. "And you thought I'd listen to my Mum!?" I gasped, "When have I ever listened to her!?" "Well, maybe it's about time to start listening to me?" snapped Mum. "I don't think so," I snapped, "I coped without you in my life for years." "Well, you're not coping, now are you?" snapped Mum. "I'm coping just fine," I said. "Coping fine!?" exclaimed Mum, "Are you on drugs? You're stood there covered in stab wounds, owning only the clothes on your back, and you say you're coping?!" "I've spoken to a counsellor," I said, "She's going round to see Nikki today." "What the Hell is that going to do?" asked Mum. "If she agrees to have some counselling sessions, it might help," I said. "Oh Sausage, get a grip," said Mum, "There's no way she's going to admit to being a violent b*tch. She's too busy playing the victim card. Now I was all for you two getting together when you first started seeing her. Average looking boys with bad breath and receding hairlines like you don't often end up with stunners like Nikki, but now she's beating you up and that's out of order, especially if my Grandson is there." "Mum, I'm sorting this out," I said. "You're trying to sort it out," said Mum, "But that's all based on you HOPING that she'll agree to have some counselling." "She needs more than counselling," said TJ, "She needs locking up in a padded room." "We're just worried about you, babes," said Mike, "We don't want Nikki to hurt you." "Look," I said, "You're forgetting about what I told you. When Nikki came at me with a mug, I grabbed hold of her and restrained her." "Sausage," said Mum, "The point is that you shouldn't HAVE to restrain your girlfriend from coming at you with scissors. I'll go round and have a word with her." "No!" I loudly said, "Look, will you all just keep your noses out. I'm dealing with this." "Well, what are you going to do if she refuses to have these counselling sessions?" asked Mum. "Oh, I don't know," I snapped. "Well, it's something you need to think about," said Mum. "I know," I said. "Well, think about it now," said a Mum, "Come on, what are you going to do? I'm not having you and Leo living with some psycho woman who's going to throw plates at you when it takes her fancy." "Believe it or not I ALSO don't want me and Leo living in that environment," I said, "Just stop interfering and leave it to me. If I need your help, I'll ask for it."

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Mum's about twenty years too late to start acting like the doting, caring parent. As much as I hate to say it, if Nikki refuses to have counselling sessions with Patience, I suppose I need to think about ending the relationship, leaving her and moving out, but I really – REALLY hope, it doesn't come to that.

Patience went to see Nikki today. I wonder how she got on. I'm going home tomorrow to see Nikki, so I guess I'll find out. I really hope Nikki's agreed to have some sessions.
