Entry 1119
Sunday 20th October 2019

We're all out of the bunker and back in our homes but we still haven't been told what's going on!

The day started when I woke up after enduring a rather uncomfortable night's sleep down in the emergency bunker on a hard mattress on the top bunk of some bunk beds. Naomi and I sorted the kids out, who also didn't have a very good night's sleep, and then we joined the others, and we all ate breakfast together. I say "breakfast", it was actually a brown bag of some poorly heated up bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs, and a tepid carton of clinical tasting tea. It not only tasted like sh*t but it also took ages to arrive because there's hundreds of us down here and only two bl**dy GRID soldiers.

We were all tucking into cr*ppy breakfast and commenting and how horrible they were when one of the two armed GRID soldiers addressed us all via a megaphone he was holding in his right hand. "Bit of hush everyone please!" he loudly announced. Silence fell, we stopped eating our horrible eggs and looked ahead towards the lifts where the two soldiers were stood. "OK, everyone," said the GRID soldier holding the megaphone, "The situation is under control. You can all return to your homes." The soldier seemed very casual, and rather than standing up and making their ways to the lifts, a lot of people started shouting and screaming at the soldiers. "WHAT BL**DY SITUATION!?" one angry voice shouted. "YOU HAVEN'T TOLD US ANYTHING!" another frustrated voice yelled. "EVERYONE JUST CALM DOWN!" the GRID soldier aggressively shouted, as he once again addressed us with the megaphone, "Now we're in the dark just as much as you are. We don't know what's going on either. All we know is that we've had word from control that the situation is contained and that you can all return home. So, come on. Let's get the Hell out of here." We all exchanged awkward and frustrating looks and then proceeded to gather the small amount of belongings we had with us and started to leave the bunker.

As we gathered by the lifts with the rest of the islanders and waited for a lift to arrive and take us back to the surface, Naomi, Roz, Trudy, and I quietly talked about our situation. "We really need to find out if all of this was caused by Kayleigh and Eleanor getting free," said Trudy. "I don't know about you lot, but I need a good night's sleep," I said, "These beds are definitely not comfortable." "I think you've got more to worry about than sleep, Luke," said Roz, "Helen Harvey might have told Tinsley that you – that WE, knew that Blade's partner and Helen's daughter were chained up below GRID HQ." "Yeah, well don't think we should wait to find out," said Naomi, "Something's going on, and the fact that Tinsley hasn't made an announcement is unsettling me." "Well, what are we going to do about it?" asked Roz. "I'll go round to Sci-Fi Cyn's flat and see what she knows," I said. "Good idea," said Naomi. "I'm seeing Helen in the morning for more blood tests," said Trudy, "I could ask what's going on and then meet you at the café and give you an update." "Yeah, that's a good idea too," said Naomi, "But I really don't think we can just sit around and wait to see what Cyn and Helen say. If Tinsley knows we knew about Eleanor and Kayleigh, he's going to come looking for us." "Yeah, but if he knew he would have probably told the soldiers to keep us down here," I said, "He hasn't done that." "It doesn't mean he doesn't know," said Naomi. "I know, but it doesn't mean he DOES know," I said. "Luke, I'm not just going to sit at home and wait to see if that psycho Tinsley turns up." "What? You think that we might not be safe?" asked Roz. "Err... Have you met Tinsley?" Naomi said to Roz. "Well, what do we do?" asked Trudy, "Go into hiding?" "OK," I said, "Let's just calm down. We don't need to go into hiding. IF Helen has told Tinsley that we knew about the infected under GRID HQ, and that's a big IF, we can all just plead ignorance and say we don't know what Helen's going on about." "Pleading ignorance?" said Roz, looking at me like I'm some sort of idiot, "Is that the best you can come up with?" "Well, it's better than going into f*cking hiding," I said, "Think about it. Why would Helen tell Tinsley that we knew about the infected beneath GRID HQ? Why? Why would she do that? Let's just wait and see what Cyn says and what Trudy finds out from Helen and go from there." Roz and Naomi didn't look reassured, but I managed to convince them to hang fire for now.

Once we exited the bunker, we all walked back to our respective homes, Naomi and I got Mum and Auntie Meryl settled back in the house and I left Leo with them and went to see Sci-Fi at her flat. I knocked on the door, waited a while and looked through the letterbox but she wasn't in. Maybe she's still at GRID HQ involved in all the clean up from the evacuation.

After I'd been round to Sci-Fi Cyn's I went round to Naomi's and Ash's. Naomi was still rather tense. Ash was in the kitchen making tea as I sat in the living room with Naomi and Sophie. "Well?" Naomi anxiously said, "Did you see Sci-Fi Cyn? What did she say? Did she explain things? Has it got anything to do with Kayleigh and Eleanor?" "Just calm down and keep your voice down," I said, putting my hands reassuringly on Naomi's shoulder, "Ash is here, and this is all supposed to be top secret remember?" "Quick," Naomi urgently whispered to me, "Tell me what Cyn said before Ash comes back from the kitchen." "She wasn't in," I said, "She's probably still at GRID HQ dealing with the clean-up operation." "Oh my God," gasped Naomi, "He's got her, hasn't he? Tinsley's got Cyn and that's why she's not at home in her flat. He's going to come for us next. We have to do something." I grabbed hold of Naomi firmly by the shoulders and sat her down on the sofa. "Right," I assertively said, "Now you listen to me. The only reason we have to worry is because Helen might – that's MIGHT, have told Tinsley we knew about the infected down there. Now, let's just stop and think about that. It's incredibly unlikely that Helen will grass us up. There's no reason for her to do that, and if – that's IF Tinsley has realised that Helen's infected daughter was underground at GRID HQ, he probably killed her, so Helen will have more important things on her mind than grassing us up. Anyway, we still don't know what happened? For all we know a fat canteen worker at GRID HQ could have had a heart attack, come back as an infected and then ran around taking chunks out of GRID staff. Eleanor and Kayleigh might have absolutely nothing to do with this. They could still be underground for all we know. Now let's just relax and see what happens." Again, Naomi didn't look convinced, but at that moment Ash came in with the tea. "You two, OK?" he asked, noticing our tense expressions. A short silence followed. "Yeah," sighed Naomi, "It's just been a tiring 24-hours."

I can see why Naomi is on edge, and I do think a slightly cautious approach is advisable, but I really don't think there's anything to worry about. Certainly not right now anyway. Cyn is probably still at GRID HQ dealing with the fallout from the evacuation. I'm sure we'll catch up with her tomorrow at Sails Cafe as usual. I do feel frustrated that it's now night time and Tinsley hasn't addressed the island and made an announcement telling us what's happened. It just leaves us all wondering what the Hell happened? Maybe he'll tell us all tomorrow. I hope so. I want to know what's been going on...
