Entry 1144
Thursday 14th November 2019Blade still hasn't shown his face.
Me and Naomi met with Mike and Sci-Fi Cyn at Sails Café. Trudy and Mia were also there. We all had a cup of tea and a good chat about all the recent goings on. "So, what are you supposed to do now?" Trudy asked me, "Just spend time walking around the island on your own, hoping that Blade will how his face?" "I suppose," I said. "It sounds bl**dy stupid to me," said Trudy, "Blade might have something up his sleeve." "Not if he's wearing a vest," said Mia. "That's not what she means," I bluntly said. "Look, I just want to get my baby back," said Mia. "I know you do, love," said Trudy, "But come on. She's infected. Do you really want to go through all the stress of bringing up an infected baby, and only seeing her at GRID HQ under armed guard?" "It's better than nothing," said Mia. "Is it?" asked Trudy, "I'm not so sure. Nicola's granddaughter and my son got infected. The right thing to do – the kindest thing to do is to put them out of their misery. It was hard, but can you imagine how hard it would be if we had to put them out of their misery now, after getting connected to them for years." "She's my daughter, Trudy," said Mia, "I have to get her back." "Yes, well the problem with all this is that we're assuming that Blade is on the island," said Trudy. "Well, of course he is," I said, "He left Whitby, and this was where he was heading. He told us he was coming back here." "Look genius," Trudy bluntly said to me, "I once told my probation officer that I'd go back to Iceland and return that family sized bag of chicken nuggets... What people say and what they do can be two different things." I rolled my eyes, as I picked up my tea and took a slurp. "Do you really think he could have gone somewhere else?" asked Mike. "No," said Mia, "No. He wants to get his hands on this fake cure thing. It wouldn't make sense if he decided to go somewhere else." "He might not have made it back here," said Trudy, "He gave you the cargo ship to get back and he left himself with a jeep. Well, driving from Whitby to The Isle of Wight in an apocalypse won't be easy. We all thought he was dead before. He could be dead now. Maybe the infefted got to him whilst he was making his way here." "Oh God," gasped Mia, "If that's happened, then what's happened to my daughter?" "Just clam down," I said, "Mia, don't listen to this thick chav. She doesn't know what she's on about." "Oh?" said Trudy, "Are you saying that there's no chance Blade could be dead?" "I'm saying there's no point in talking about that and getting Mia all worked up," I said, "We just need to wait for Blade to show his face." "How long do you wait for?" asked Trudy, "If Blade is here, he won't want to be hanging around for long will he? If you ask me, the longer we wait, the more likely it is that he never made it back here. I mean come on. I think people would realise that he got back on to the island." "Why?" I asked, "People didn't realise it when he came back before?" "Well, I reckon he must have lost the plot," said Trudy, "As if Endo can create a cure or a vaccine just like that. I've been going to GRID HQ more or less every other day giving them some of my special blood and they still haven't managed to do anything frigging useful with it." "Just be glad that Blade has lost the plot," I said, "It means I can give him this fake cure thing and that he'll believe it's a real cure and then give us Mia's baby back." "You hope," said Trudy, "Blade could have other things on his mind. Anyway, even if he does come out of hiding, the baby won't be handed over to Mia. She'll be handed over to GRID." "At least I'll get to see her," said Mia, "I just hope Jon has looked after her. If I find out he's hurt my little girl, he'll feel the sting on my Gash on his face." "You what?!" gasped Trudy. "It's not what you think," I said to Trudy, "I'll tell you later." "Yeah, well, never mind Blade," said Trudy, "I want a word with Mr Harold Endo, and now that I know where he's living, I think I'll go round and have a little chat with him." "What do you want to talk to him about?" asked Mia. "Have you forgotten what he did to me and Primark? When you lot were jumping into those cryogenic freezers, he did experiments on me and my son." "Yeah, but he didn't hurt you, did he?" asked Mia. "Mia, he held me at gunpoint," Trudy said bluntly, "It wasn't exactly a polite invitation. Now I know that whatever he did to me meant that I could make the heads of the infected explode if I go anywhere near them but I want to know what he did to my son." "Yeah, well, just be careful if you do talk to him," I said, "All he does is lie." "He's not like that anymore," said Mia. "Mia, love," said Trudy, "I know he's your Dad and all that, and you're grateful to him for helping you out with your baby, but you wouldn't have all these problems with your baby if your f*cking bat sh*t crazy Dad hadn't of done all the mental stuff he's done and injected you with some f*cked up sh*te." "I still can't believe that people on the island don't know Endo escaped," said Naomi. "Tinsley wants to keep it quiet," said Sci-Fi Cyn, "Heaven forbid anyone who thinks he hasn't got a handle on things. Us and a few GRID soldiers are the only ones who know what really happened, but he's going to have to make some sort of announcement at some point, especially if Endo starts working with GRID scientists." "And you can't expect Dad to stay locked inside the house forever," said Mia. "True," said Sci-Fi Cyn, "If he starts walking from Cowes to GRID HQ and wandering around the island people will see him, recognise him, and start asking questions. Tinsley will have to make an announcement before then."
I still can't believe that Harold is living next door to me. I'm glad that Mia's close by but Harold can just f*ck off. God knows how it's all going to work out if Harold starts going out in public and working with GRID scientists. I haven't seen Harold today. Thank God. I always feel a bit uneasy around him. As much as Trudy annoyed me earlier on, she had a point. Blade might not have made it back to the island. I spent some time walking around Cowes on my own, but Blade didn't appear. I guess I just need to wait. I just don't know how long I should wait for. I'm sure Tinsley will have something to say about that.
