Entry 1026
Friday 19th July 2019What. A. Day.
I've just got back from GRID HQ where mine, Mike's and Trudy's confrontation with Blade took an unexpected turn. I am in absolute SHOCK at what I've just found out!
I left the house this morning, telling Nikki that after I'd finished my shift at The Hive, Gary would be giving me a lift into Cowes and that I'd be having a catch up with Mike and Trudy. "Why are you telling me this?" snapped Nikki, "I KNOW! You don't need to keep repeating yourself." "I'm just telling you because I'm going to go with Trudy to GRID HQ, so I might be home later than usual," I said. "What are you going to GRID HQ for?" asked Nikki. "Trudy's getting more blood taken from her and I said I'd go with her," I said. "I don't think Trudy needs you to hold her hand," said Nikki, bluntly. "Look," I firmly said, "I said I'd go; so I'm going." "Fine," said a dismissive Nikki, "Do what you want. Sort your own food out. I will have probably eaten by the time you get back." I know I didn't tell Nikki the full truth about why I was going to GRID HQ, but I certainly didn't lie to her. Anyway, what's the point in telling her the truth? I asked myself. If it doesn't involve her or her stupid cat, she wouldn't have been interested.
I had another boring shift at work; sweeping the walkways above the containment area which was crammed with infected, and cleaning the courtyard area and entrance to The Hive, brushing around loads of dust. Seems a bit stupid to keep an ugly concrete building clean for the sake of a bossy b*tch, a bunch of stupid soldiers and a sh*t load of infected, but who am I to question Natasha, eh!?
Anyway, Gary once again was kind enough to give me a lift into Cowes. He could see that I had something on my mind. I just told him that I was thinking about who could have sent Nikki the threatening note. I didn't want to tell him that Mike, Trudy and I were planning on sneaking into some secret room at GRID HQ and confronting Blade. He is still a GRID soldier after all, and I didn't want him telling Blade what we were planning. I also didn't want to put Gary in a compromising position.
Gary dropped me off and when I arrived at Sails Café in Cowes, I looked over at Trudy and Mike with an expression of anxiety on my face. A tense silence followed. "What's that face for?" asked a blunt Trudy, "You look like you've just sh*t yourself." "We're about to sneak into GRID HQ and try and get into some sort of secret room," I firmly said, "I think I'm entitled to feel a bit nervous." "Alright Nervous Nelly," said Trudy, "Don't go getting your period. You're just coming with me to give me some support. It's not like a big f*cking James Bond secret mission thing." "I wish it was," said Mike, with an excited look on his face, "I love all this under cover stuff." "Mike, no one's going under cover," said Trudy, "Like I said, you're just coming with me to give me some moral support and if anyone asks why you're there, that's what we'll tell them. Helen has said I can take people with me for support. Stop worrying." "Yeah, but what are we going to do if Blade gets all aggressive with us?" I asked. "I'll kick his head in," said Mike. "We spoke about this yesterday," said Trudy, "If he starts throwing his weight around, I'll just tell him that I'll stop giving them my blood and taking part in their tests to help get a cure, and you can just threaten to tell everyone the truth about the nukes." "Yeah, that'll sh*t him up," said Mike. "Or he'll just kill all three of us right there," I said. "Oh, will you stop moaning!?" snapped Trudy, "He's not going to kill us. F*cking d*ckhead. God! Do you want to do this or not!?" We kept going back and forth and after a while the three of us made our way to GRID HQ.
I found myself sat with Mike and Trudy in the shiny, sleek reception area in GRID HQ, waiting anxiously for Helen to arrive to collect Trudy. "For f*cks sake," Trudy quietly said, "Luke, you look like a kid who's just been caught w*nking in class, and Mike you look like you're about to have a w*nk in class. Will you both just, chill." Helen Harvey appeared and approached the three of us with a look of confusion on her face. "Afternoon, Trudy," she said, "I see you've come with some friends." "I don't want to w*nk!" Mike loudly said. "Excuse me?" said Helen. "Oh, just ignore him," said Trudy, "He gets excited when he goes to Sainsbury's to buy some milk. Yeah, I brought these two for a bit of moral support." "Moral support?" said Helen, "You don't usually need moral support. You usually come on your own." "Yeah, well," said Trudy, "I know Mike's been with me before but I made Luke feel bad for not coming and offering support before. They can sit in with me, can't they?" "Err... Yes," said Helen, "I don't see that being a problem. There's not going to be any fancy tests today; just a few injections to take a bit more of your blood."
