Nikki's received another threatening letter and she's really scared.

I'd just got home from work and was playing with Leo whilst also enduring being stuck in the middle of another petty row between Mum and Auntie Meryl when Nikki's voice came over the walkie talkie. She sounded really upset and said she wanted me to come round. Feeling curious and concerned, I passed Leo to Mum and put my coat on. "And where the frig are you going?" asked Auntie Meryl. "I'm off to Nikki's," I said. "And leaving me and your minx of a mother to look after your little sh*t machine?" said Auntie Meryl, "You treat this place like a creche. Do I look like I work as a qualified child minder?" "You look more like the child catcher," said Mum. "Well, I'd rather go around catching children than the multitude of sexually transmitted infections you've had, you big whore," said Auntie Meryl. "Oh, Meryl, leave him alone," said Mum, "He's off to go see his girlfriend." "He saw her yesterday," said Auntie Meryl, "You don't have to see her all of the time." "The old bag might have a point," said Mum, "They say absence makes the heart grow fonder." "Whereas in your case absence makes your knicker elastic last longer," said Auntie Meryl "Anyway Lynn, I don't know why you like this woman? She's a right stuck-up cow. She doesn't like me." "Well, there's one reason to like her straight away," said Mum. "Look, she sounded upset, so I want to make sure she's OK," I said. "What's she got to be upset about?" asked a blunt Auntie Meryl, "She's got you running around after her like a mug."

I left the house and walked round to Nikki's and when I arrived, she looked like she'd been crying. In fact, she looked really scared. "God, look at you," I said, sounding concerned, "What is it? What's wrong?" Sitting on the sofa with a bright red face and shaking slightly, Nikki pointed over to the coffee table. I followed her line of sight and saw that she was pointing at a piece of folded up paper that was on the coffee table. I picked up the piece of paper, unfolded it and felt a mixture of anger and concern at what was written on it. It was another threatening note. This one said "YOU'RE GOING TO GET WHAT YOU DESERVE YOU LYING B*TCH". I put the note back on the coffee table and returned to Nikki, wrapped my arms around her and gave her a big hug. "It's OK," I said, in a reassuring manner as I rubbed Nikki's back, "Try not to worry. This is some psycho trying to scare you." "Some psycho?" said Nikki, "What do you mean?" "I mean, it'll be some random nutter trying to freak you out," I said. "Some RANDOM nutter!?" exclaimed Nikki, standing up and throwing her hands in the air, "RANDOM!?" Are you serious!?" "What do you mean?" I asked. "Oh my God, are you really this stupid!?" exclaimed Nikki, "This isn't random! It's f*cking Naomi!" "Oh, come on," I said, standing up and trying to comfort Nikki and calm her down, "Naomi wouldn't do this." "FOR F*CKS SAKE!" Nikki loudly and hysterically yelled, "WHY ARE YOU SO OBSSESSED WITH ONLY SEEING THE GOOD IN HER! SHE'S NOT F*CKING PERFECT YOU KNOW!" WHACK!! Nikki raised her right hand, pulled her arm back and then with excessive force swung her hand around, slapping me hard in the face. It was an almighty slap! I lost my balance, fell over, banged my head on the side of the TV stand and grazed my forehead. Feeling slightly dazed, I tried to compose myself. I shook my head, stood up unsteadily and touched my forehead. I lowered my hand and noticed the blood on my fingertips. I then looked over at Nikki who, rather than appearing remorseful, looked just as angry as she did a minute ago. A tense silence lingered. I was shocked but I also felt a bit odd; like I wasn't completely sure how to respond. "I'm going to go," I said. "Oh, that's right," snapped Nikki, "Walk away! Just leave me stood here when I'm all distraught and upset." "You've just slapped me across the face," I exclaimed. "So!?" exclaimed Nikki, "God, it's not all about you, you know!? I'm here suffering after that psycho b*tch has sent me another threatening letter, and you make it all about you. What about supporting your girlfriend?" "Nikki, you've just hit me," I said, "Look, I'm bleeding." "Well, I didn't make you bleed," snapped Nikki, "You should have known I was going to slap you when you said Naomi wouldn't do this. She can do no wrong in your eyes." "That's not true," I said, "I'm just saying that we don't know who sent you that note. It could be anyone." "Oh, so LOADS of people hate me, do they?" snapped Nikki. "No, that's not what I said," I said. "That's what you meant," said Nikki. "No, it's not," I said, "You have no idea who sent you that horrible letter. That's what I meant." "Look at what it says," said Nikki, picking up the note and waving it in my face "Look at it. I'm getting called a lying b*tch. Naomi thinks I'm lying. She thinks I hit myself in the face to get her into trouble. This note is obviously from her. Why can't you see that? It's staring you right in the face. I bet she sent the other one too." "OK," I said, "Let's just think about this. When did this note arrive?" "I noticed it just before I radioed through to you," said Nikki, "I went out for a walk. I came home and it was there on the door mat. I read it and that's when I radioed through to you. For God's sake Naomi only lives a few streets away. It's obviously her. What are you going to do about it?" "Me?" I said. "Yes you, you f*cking moron," snapped Nikki, "You are my boyfriend. Don't you think you SHOULD do something about it?" "We could talk to Blade," I said. "What do you want to talk to him for?" snapped Nikki, "What the Hell is he going to do? You're my boyfriend. You're supposed to step up when stuff like this happens, so come on. F*cking do something. Be a man." "Look," I said, "Before the apocalypse and all that, if something like this happened, we'd go to the police. The next best thing is GRID. I'll talk to Blade." "You said he doesn't like you," snapped Nikki. "Well, he doesn't," I said, "But he's professional. He'll want to know if something like this is happening. Leave it with me and I'll talk to Blade. If you get anymore letters, just keep them, and if someone knocks on the door it might be best that you only answer it if you're expecting someone." I put my hand reassuringly on Nikki's shoulder. "It'll be OK," I gently said, "We'll sort this out."

I rubbed the graze on my forehead and then touched the red mark on my cheek from where Nikki had slapped me. "You know that really hurt," I said. "Oh, don't be such a wuss," said Nikki, "I hardly touched you." "You slapped me," I said "I lost my balance and banged my head." "It's not my fault you lost your balance," said Nikki, "For God's sake, be a man and stop moaning. It's only a little scratch. It's not like you're losing loads of blood. I've lost more blood when I've cut my finger chopping onions." "Just don't fly off the handle like that," I said, "I could have been really hurt you know." "Yeah, well, don't go p*ssing me off and saying sh*t to wind me up," said Nikki, "You know if you stopped mentioning Naomi, I wouldn't get as p*ssed off with you." "Well, I don't want to split hairs," I said, "But you mentioned Naomi when you said you thought it was her who sent you the letter." "Oh, so it's all my fault is it!?" snapped Nikki. "No," I said, "No. Of course it's not. It's obviously all my fault isn't it?" "And what the Hell does that mean?" snapped Nikki. "Nothing," I said, "Look, I don't want to fight. I didn't come round here to argue; I came round here to make sure you're OK. I care about you, you know?" Nikki smiled." I know," she quietly said. "We will sort out all this letter sh*t," I said, "And if it turns out Naomi is sending them, then I'll come down on her like a ton of bricks."

I'm going to stay at Nikki's tonight. She wants me to stay and I don't feel like I should leave her. I don't think Naomi is the one sending Nikki these horrible letters, but I'm not sure I should say that to Nikki as she's convinced Naomi is behind them. I can kind of see why though – especially given everything that's gone on recently, and even more as the most recent letter mentions lying. Even so, Naomi wouldn't do this sort of thing. It's not only nasty but it's childish. Not Naomi's style. The graze on my head isn't too bad now. It's stopped bleeding and Nikki has put a little plaster on the worst bit and kissed it better. There'll probably be a bruise in the morning. I shouldn't be too p*ssed off with Nikki. I don't think she meant to slap me that hard, and she certainly didn't hit me thinking that I'd bang my head on the side of the TV unit. I guess she's just a fiery, independent woman. Mind you, I think she's insecure and perhaps she feels threatened by Naomi. In fact, I'd say she definitely feels threatened by Naomi. Nikki has nothing to worry about though. The way Naomi's been behaving recently means I don't really want to be around her right now, and if she doesn't say sorry to me and to Nikki, I really think mine and her friendship could well and truly be over.
