Entry 1132
Saturday 2nd November 2019

Oh... My... God...

My head is spinning.

I am in an absolute state of shock, but at the same time I'm also feeling weirdly happy.

The day started when Naomi and I woke up in our tent on the stock room floor of The Mountain Warehouse shop, after having a surprisingly comfortable night's sleep. I gave her a kiss, got dressed, exited the tent, and immediately noticed Endo stood near one of the windows looking out across the town of Whitby. "Morning," I bluntly said. "Here," said Endo, turning round and offering me a plastic cup of tea. "Tea?" I said, "Where did you get this from?" "I found some tea bags in the kitchen cupboard," said Endo. "No," I said, "I looked in the kitchen cupboard." "Obviously not property," said Endo, "There's no milk, so you'll have to have it black." "How did you boil the water?" I asked with suspicion, "In fact, where did you get the water from?" "It rained last night," said Endo, "I went out on to the fire exit, collected some water and boiled it using the camping stove. I'm not completely useless you know. Here." I looked suspiciously at the tea that Endo was offering me. "What's wrong?" Endo bluntly asked, "Think I'm going to poison you?" "I wouldn't put it past you," I bluntly said. "Luke, if you don't want the tea, I'll have it," Endo bluntly said, "I need you and Naomi to help me get to a car or a boat. Poisoning you isn't exactly going to help, is it? Anyway, I left my secret stash of poison back at the prison." I looked at Harold with an expression of shock. "That was a joke, Luke," Endo said, "My God. Here, just drink your tea." I took the tea from Endo and started to drink it. It tasted weird without milk, but it wasn't too bad. "Look," said Endo, looking out of the window and pointing towards the sea, "Now that we've got day light we can see where we are. I don't think we're too far from a boat." "Hmmm," I said, looking out at the devasted Whitby skyline. Burned out cars, ransacked stores, buildings ravaged by fire and partly demolished buildings littered the landscape. "What is it?" asked Endo, sensing my tone. "Well, just look at that," I said, pointing out at the former shell of a town, "You're responsible for all that. Don't you feel guilty?" "Oh, Luke," said Endo, "I don't have the time to enjoy the luxury of guilt. Our efforts are best used to focus on getting out of here." I looked at Endo and shook my head thinking what an absolute arse he is. I noticed the black eye he was sporting because of Naomi punching him yesterday. "Bit of a black eye you've got there," I said. "Hmmm," said Endo, "Your girlfriend packs quote a wallop." "Yeah, well you deserved it," I said. "I'm sure you think there's a lot I deserve," said Endo. "Yes," I firmly said. "Luke my daughter killing herself, said Endo, "Did I deserve that?" A short silence followed. "No," I said, "No one deserves that." "You were a good friend to Mia," said Harold. "I miss her," I said. "Me too," said Harold with a smile. "Don't get sucked in," a voice from behind said. Endo and I turned around and saw Naomi looking crossly at us. "Luke, he's trying to get inside your head," said Naomi, "Don't let him. What's that you're drinking?" "I made him some tea," said Endo. "You're accepting a drink off him!?" exclaimed Naomi, "He could have done anything to it!" "It's black tea," said Endo, "A teabag and hot water, not arsenic and cyanide." Suddenly, the sound of a car engine echoed up to the top floor of the store. The three of us looked out of the window and saw a jeep slowly driving down the pedestrianised street below, but it wasn't just any jeep, it was a GRID jeep. It was covered in dents and lots of mud, looking like it had been through the wars, but it was definitely a GRID jeep. "It's Blade," said Endo, "Now we've got light, he's driving around looking for us." "He's right," I said to Naomi, "When he left the island, he took a few jeeps with him. We need to come up with a plan." "We've got a plan," said Naomi, "We need to get to a car or a boat." "If we look for the car that can be opened by the key that Harold has, we can drive to a boat," I said, "Or maybe even down to Southampton. We've got a key to a car, we don't have a key to a boat." "Yeah, but the car that links to that key is probably near the chemist," said Naomi, "And the chemist is where Blade and his men were." "No," said Harold, "It's where we were kept and where Blade was based. We don't know that anyone else was there." "We heard a voice just before we ran out into the street," said Naomi. "OK," said Endo, "We heard one extra voice. It doesn't mean Blade has all his men with him." "Are you blind?" snapped Naomi, "We've just seen them driving around down there in a GRID jeep." "No," said Harold, "We saw a GRID jeep being driven around. We don't know if it's full of GRID soldiers. We don't even know if Blade was in it. Someone could have stolen it. Anyway, if Blade is in that jeep, it means he's not near the chemist, so we can go back there, look around the area for the car to this key and try and get out of here." "Fine," said a firm Naomi, "But let's be careful. Daylight might mean that we can see what we're doing but it means the infected can see too." "OK," I said, "So we'll try and get to the chemist and find the car that can be opened by the key that Harold's got," I said. "If we can try and find some food on the way that would be good too," said Naomi.
