Entry 1071
Monday 2nd September 2019OH. MY. GOD.
Just... Oh... My... God. I am in an absolute state of shock.
I went to Tonino's Restaurant for a nice meal with Naomi... Well... We didn't actually get round to the nice meal but because something happened that I am still reeling from...
The first part of the day was turning out to be quite a normal day. I saw Auntie Meryl at the hospital, took Leo for a walk on the beach, and met up with Mike and Sci-Fi Cyn at Sails Café. I told them that I was going for a meal tonight with Naomi, and that I worried about what she had to say to me. Cyn told me to get a grip, not to worry and that she was sure there was nothing to get stressed about. "I hope you're right," I said. I asked Sci-Fi Cyn if she could have a chat with Tinsley and tell him that I need a new job. "Oh, no," said Sci-Fi Cyn, "I'm not talking to that man unless I really must. Why don't you tell him you want a new job?" "Because he's intimidating," I said, "And you're better than me at dealing with that sort of sh*t. You see him a lot more than I do. You're at GRID HQ nearly every day, aren't you?" "Luke," said Sci-Fi Cyn, "I am not going to speak to Tinsley about you needing a new job because you haven't got the bottle to." "Maybe I could get Natasha to speak to him." "No," said Sci-Fi Cyn, "For God's sake, Luke, man up and deal with this yourself. Just tell him that you live in Cowes now and that you need a job closer to home. Tell him about what happened with your Auntie. He'll understand." "I very much doubt that," I said, "Anyway, he'll ask what's happened with me and Nikki, and I really don't want to tell him." "You should tell him "Said Mike, "He might lock the psycho plate-throwing, cat-killing b*tch in prison. That's where she belongs." "No," I said, "I don't want any stress or complications. Especially after everything that's happened with Auntie Meryl. I'll just tell him that it didn't work out and that I don't want to go into details." I suppose Sci-Fi Cyn has a point. It is up to me to tell Tinsley that I need a new job. I'll miss seeing Gary but travelling to and from The Hive every day from Cowes is a bit much. I hope Tinsley agrees. I think there's a chance that he might tell me he doesn't care how I feel about the journey and to just get on with it. I really hope he doesn't.
In the evening I met with Naomi outside Tonino's. I stood outside the main entrance and saw her walking over to me with a smile on her face. "Alright?" I asked, greeting Naomi. "I'm not late, am I?" she asked, "I was trying to get Sophie settled with Ash and she was being a little madam." "I know the feeling," I said, "I love Leo to bits, but he can be a little sod sometimes. Anyway, you're not late. You're bang on time. I don't know about you but I'm starving."
Naomi and I walked into the restaurant, and we were shown to our table by one of the waiters who removed Naomi's coat, which revealed how she stunning she looked. She was wearing a black, elegant, shiny dress with some silver jewellery. She'd done her hair, slapped on some make up, and smelt gorgeous. "Bl**dy Hell," I said to Naomi, as I popped my eyes back into their sockets, "You look great." "Oh," said a bashful Naomi, "Thank you." "I feel really under dressed now." I said, "How come you've got all dolled up. This place doesn't have a dress code you know." "Yeah, I know," said Naomi, "But I just thought I'd make the effort. Let's be honest, we don't get much of a chance to get all dressed up like this do we?" "Yeah, I suppose," I said, "It's just that you look lie you should be on the red carpet at a film premier, not sat at a table, in an Italian restaurant, on the Isle of Wight, with a bloke wearing jeans." "You look fine," said Naomi.
A few moments later, after ordering our drinks, Naomi and I looked at the menus. "You know," said Naomi, "I sometimes I have to punch myself." "How do you mean?" I asked. "Well, this time last year we were all in that fake town Feemh Oak, remember? Not long before that we were living like wild animals, killing, and doing whatever we needed to do, to get by. Now look at us. We're in a nice Italian restaurant about to have some nice food." "It's a bit surreal when you put it like that," I said. "I guess we're all lucky," said Naomi, "You've got Leo. I've got Sophie. We've got friends and family. OK, our friends and family might get on our nerves a lot of the time, but let's be honest; we'd be lost without them." "True," I said, "Auntie Meryl drives me crazy most of the time, but I wouldn't be without her. God, I feel so bad for the things I said to her." "Come on, now," said Naomi, "Forget about all that." "I said some pretty sh*tty things to you too," I said. "Stop beating yourself up!" said Naomi, "We've been over all that." "Part of me wants to blame Nikki," I said, "I want to blame everything on her." "Well, she has done some pretty horrific stuff," said Naomi. "Yeah, but she's not responsible for me being a tw*t to you and Auntie Meryl," I said, "That was all on me. I never thought I'd turn into the sort of guy that treat his loved ones like sh*t because I was in a relationship with some girl. Well, I'll tell you one thing, No more relationships for me, and that's for sure. Megan Fox could walk in here right now wearing nothing but a smile, and say 'Take me Luke, I'm all yours' and I'd be like, no thanks. Not interested! Nope! I'm staying single and focusing on my friends and family." "So, you don't think you'll get a girlfriend ever again?" asked Naomi. "Well, I'm not sure I'd say 'never'," I said, "But right now, a relationship is the last thing I'm interested in." "Well, yeah," said Naomi, "You have been through a lot, but I don't think you should give up on relationships completely. You never know. The right girl for you could be right under your nose." "I doubt it," I said, "Anyway, look at my track record with women. Caroline turned out to be a lesbian, Eve was married to a psycho, Esther was a bossy cow, Natasha only pretended to be interested in me, Catherine WAS an actual psycho, and Nikki was an extreme psycho. I think I'm better off being single." "Is there nothing that can change your mind?" asked Naomi. "Look," I said, "I didn't bring you here so we could talk about my disastrous love life. I brough you here to treat you and say thank you for being a good mate. Anyway, you said you had something to tell me. Now I know you said not to worry, but I'm sitting here feeling really anxious." "You don't need to feel anxious," said Naomi. "OK," I said, "So, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" "Well, like I said, it's nothing to worry about, "said Naomi, "In fact, I don't even think there's any point in telling you now." "Oh, come on," I said, "Don't do that. You've got to tell me now." "Yeah, OK," said Naomi, "But just remember that nothing has to come of it. I'll say what I'm about to say and we don't ever have to talk about it again if you don't want to." "Now, I'm REALLY curious," I said, "Come on. What is it?" Naomi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It was clear that what she wanted to say was quite important. "OK," said Naomi, "Well, do you remember when you were in that coma after Kyle ran you over?" "Well, yeah," I chuckled, "It's not the sort of thing you forget it." "Well, that's when it hit me," said Naomi, "That's when it all made sense." "When all what made sense?" I asked. "Well," said Naomi, "That's when I realised how I..." "Oh God," I said, interrupting Naomi with shock on my face. "Do you know what I'm going to say?" asked Naomi. "Nikki," I said. "No," said Naomi, "It's nothing to do with Nikki." "No," I firmly said, looking over at the entrance to the restaurant, "Nikki! NIKKI! It's Nikki!" "What?" gasped Naomi as she turned round and saw Nikki walking over to us. Nikki approached the table and gave me a sinister yet smug look. The wounds from when she smashed her face into the mirror were now fading but still visible on her face. I had no idea why she was here. I felt very angry, but I also immediately became defensive. "Well doesn't this look cosy?" said Nikki. "What are you doing here?" I firmly asked. "You don't let the grass grow for long, do you?" said Nikki, "Days after you walk out and abandon me, you, as expected, jump into bed with this desperate old tart! I knew something was going on between you two!" "I can do what the Hell I like," I firmly said, "You're my ex-girlfriend, not my current girlfriend, and as I've told you before, nothing is going on between me and Naomi." "Really?" said Nikki, "So what was she doing hiding in the wardrobe? Checking for woodworm? What's she doing sitting there dressed up like some skanky prostitute? God, you must think I'm stupid!" "No." I said, "I don't think you're stupid. I think you're f*cking mental you mad b*tch!" "What do you want, Nikki?" Naomi firmly asked. "Oh, look," said Nikki, "She speaks." "I'll do more than speak if you keep winding me up," said Naomi. "How did you even know we were here?" I asked. "Your Mum told me, "Said Nikki. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Just say what you've got to say and go," I firmly said, "In fact. No. Don't bother. Get lost. I don't want to hear what you've got to say." "You'll want to hear this," said Nikki. "I doubt it," I said. PLONK! Nikki threw a small white plastic thing in front of me which landed on my placemat. I looked down at the item with horror on my face and then looked back up at Nikki who had a smug look on her face. "I'm pregnant." she said. I looked back down at the white object, a positive pregnancy test. I froze to the spot as I slowly looked over at Naomi with horror plastered all over my face. "I bet you're interested in what I've got to say now aren't you?" said Nikki. "No," said Naomi, "Luke, don't fall for this. She's lying. All she ever does is lie." "So, the test right in front of you isn't enough to prove I'm telling the truth, is it?" snapped Nikki, "So, why don't you tell me what will convince you?" "I don't know," said Naomi, "A scan picture or something like that." Nikki produced a small photo and plonked it right in front of me. It was a scan picture of a baby. A tense silence followed. Nikki adopted a very smug grin as I stared down at the scan photo. "That, is a scan picture of YOUR child, Luke," said Nikki, "Now do you both believe this!" I couldn't take my eyes off the scan photo. "No," said an angry Naomi, "No. This is all b*llocks. Luke, you can't trust a word she says." Naomi grabbed hold of the scan photo and looked at it. "This could be anyone's scan photo," said Naomi. "Just like the pregnancy test could be anyone's?" said Nikki, "Jesus Christ, what more proof do you need?" "I'll only believe you're pregnant if I see a baby fall out of that hole between your legs," said Naomi, "Luke, please don't tell me you believe this." "But it's there," I quietly said, "It's all there. The pregnancy test, the scan photo. How could she lie about that?" "Early April," said Nikki, "That's when the Doctors say it's due. So I guess we've got a lot to talk about." "You nasty piece of work," Naomi snapped at Nikki. "I got pregnant, Naomi," said Nikki, "It happens. Deal with it." "Sorry," I said, standing up and shaking my head, "I need to get out of here. I need some air." "I'll come with you," said Naomi. "No," I said, "I just need to be on my own." "Oh dear," said a nasty Nikki, "Have I ruined your night out?" "You really are a vicious little b*tch," snapped Naomi. I started to walk away. "Luke, wait!" Nikki loudly said, "We've got stuff we need to talk about." "Sorry," I said, "I just can't deal with this right now. This needs to sink in. I'll... Err... I'll... Oh, I don't know. I'll get in touch with you." In an absolute state of shock, I walked out of the restaurant and made my way back home.
When I entered the house, Mum was eagerly waiting for me in the living room. By this time my shock at Nikki's announcement had turned into anger at my Mum. She was about to say something, but I didn't give her the chance. "What the Hell are you doing, opening your big mouth, and telling Nikki where I was!?" I angrily snapped, "I mean what the f*ck is wrong with you!?" "She told me she had something important to tell you, "Said Mum, "She said it was VERY important." "And you believed her!?" I snapped. "Well, she was very convincing," said Mum, "I take it she found you?" "Oh, she f*cking found me alright," I exclaimed. "And what did she have to say?" asked Mum. I produced the scan picture from my pocket, waved it in front of Mum's face and she took it from me. "What's this?" she said, as she inspected the photo and looked confused, "Some sort of weird x-ray?" "It's a scan picture you silly cow!" I loudly said, "Nikki's pregnant." "No!" Mum loudly gasped. "I thought I was rid of that b*tch, and now she turns up with this and drags me back into her life." "Are you sure this is HER scan photo?" asked Mum. "Mum, she's definitely pregnant," I said, "She showed me the pregnancy test." "What? She chucked her p*ss covered pregnancy stick on the table just when you were about to eat?" said Mum. "I think that's the least of my worries, Mum," I said, "I mean having a scan picture AND a pregnancy test... Well, it says it all. She's pregnant with my kid. That psycho bunny boiler b*tch is pregnant with my kid." "What are you going to do?" asked Mum. "I don't know," I said, throwing my arms up in despair, "I don't know. I'm in a state of shock. I can't think straight." "I used to get like that after a busy shift at the sauna," said Mum. "I think I'm just going to go to bed." I said. "Well, don't you want to talk about this?" asked Mum. "Not right now," I said, "I mean, I suppose I will have to talk to Nikki, and figure a few things out, but right now... Oh, I just don't know. I can't get my head around this. I'll see you in the morning."
I went upstairs and got into bed and with my head spinning I tried to absorb the news that I had just heard. Part of me thought that Nikki could be lying and making all this up, but, A) why would she want to do that and, B) I could just tell that unfortunately she was telling the truth. The look on her face, the scan picture, the pregnancy test... Nikki s pregnant with my kid, and right now, I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do.
